Yeah.. that was odd. I would've appreciated that ending a lot more if it was just "Kawarimi" instead of happening to be another amazing power that only Sasuke has.

Wasn't the Substitution Technique always just a two-bit illusion/trick? I may be getting my canon mixed up with my fanon, but I thought it was just a means of tricking you opponent into thinking you're at B when you're really at A, not that you switch places with B in a split second. Otherwise why would anyone use the Body Flicker?

Why is space time ninjutsu even a thing if anyone can just use Kawarimi? Why is this some God tier thing? So. Much. Contradiction!!

Because space-time jutsu is literally instantaneous, can transport you and others anywhere in the world, send you and others to different dimensions, make you temporarily immune to any attack, redirect mountain-destoying chakra balls without trouble, can't be tracked and summons tailed beasts, giant animals and shinobi to your aid.

Kawarimi just lets you quickly swap places with something nearby. And space-time jutsu does that better too.

 

Yeah. If Sarutobi had known a space-time jutsu like this, he could have just teleported himself out of Orochimarus little barrier during part 1 and lived.

Kawarimi however obviously cannot exchange with things if there is a something solid blocking the way.

 

I think that quote might actually support my headcanon. Partly, anyway. There's probably a burst of speed similar to the Body Flicker (slightly better or worse?) that allows you to switch yourself with your item of choice before your opponent notices. It probably wouldn't have been enough for Sasuke to close the gap between himself and the portal before it closed, though.

 

If kawarimi / shunshin depend on a component to "fool" the enemy, does that mean a good enough Byakugan user or a chakra sensor can see through them? Hmm... my headcanon is sending warning signals...

 

Kawarimi allows you to switch places with an object. Period. It's no less ridiculous than the shit that has been happening.

 

I would be surprised if a good Sharignan or Byakugan user couldn't see through the jutsu. They're moving very fast not teleporting and I highly doubt most shunshin or kawarimi are faster than someone like A, Juubito, or Naruto.

 

That doesn't really make sense, though, because that would put an Academy jutsu on par with the Hirashin and Sasuke's new ultra Rinnegan technique.

 

I figure I'll bring this up again. Izanagi and Izanami. Would everyone agree that these techniques no longer have any purpose in the story besides bringing Madara back to life?

 

New ending: Sasuke uses some ultra-version of Izanagi to retcon the whole shinobi war.
