    *Fight Club
*John Tucker Must Die (although Ashanti sucked cock in this 1. why does she have to be the gazillionth singer to go into the acting buisness?!?!?)
*How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days
    *Man on Fire
    *Scary Movie (all of them)

    Dislikes
*Final Destination (once you've seen one, you've seen them all)
*LOTR (i just never got into it. the first five minutes bored me...)
    *MY Big Fat Greek Wedding
*Step up & You Got Served (both films ahd the shittiest plots in the world! they were so predictable. I think the only thing that saved the films were the soundtracks, the dancing and (in Step Up's case) Channing Tatum! mmmmmmmmmmm he was nice....
*The Grudge. (That film didn't freak me out :S IT WAS MEANT TO FREAK ME OUT GOD DAMMIT!!)

All right MUTHAFUCKAS!! I'm a huge cinephile (sounds filthy doesn't it? It just means I love movies...maybe :) : laughs like a school girl and runs off into the night...like Zorro)

Anyway the top 5 are (drumroll please)....

    1. Chinatown
(Roman Polanski is a genius. HIGHLY recommended. Jack Nicholson's best movie.)

    2. The Godfather I & II (can't choose between the two.)
(I knew it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart.)

    3. Citizen Kane
(Orson Welles's masterpiece. I hate that he was only 25 though. It makes me envious...This is the definitive bio-pic of William Randolph Hearst who prevented it from going to theaters.) :D

    4. Clockwork Orange (HIGHLY recommended for anyone who likes Fight Club. If that movie was too violent for you, than don't see this.)
(This is Stanley Kubrick's most gruesome movie, although its hard to pick one Kubrick over another. To me, he has 2 other movies that could just as easily be on this list (Dr. Strangelove, and the Shining,, and depending who you ask, 2001, although I don't like it.)

    5. Yojimbo (Akira Kurosawa's fantastic Samurai film. His most thrilling work, to me. Also see Seven Samurai, if you enjoy this.)

Completely agreed and seconded. Both Clockwork Orange and Fight Club were fucking fantastic movies, legitimately enjoyable.

    The new Star Wars Movies
    Matrix 2&3
    Harry Potter Movies
That animated crap that Disney and Pixar churn out(seriously how many can they make?)
Pride and Prejudice new version - why does Kiera Knightley have to ruin everything she touches, don't get me started with V.

Man, we really need categories, because I can’t do top 5 all around. So I’ll give my top 5 categories and my top five choices in each.

War; Full Metal Jacket (I will sit through the rest of it to see the boot camp scenes), Apocalypse Now (classic lines), Dr. Strangelove (this really ought to be comedy but I’m calling it war), Master and Commander (I love the incredibly accurate sailing and ships in this movie. Scenery was top notch too.), Jarhead (This *is* the story of my high school class [just ten years later], over half of them joined the service and their all messed up.)

Mind Fucks; Brazil (king of bizarre, classic none the less), Oscar (Sylvester Stallone as a mobster, must see. Who’s got the money? Who has the underwear? Where are the jewels?), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Ok it fell apart towards the end but was otherwise quite good.), Pulp Fiction (so many stories coming together at once, beautiful), The Cell (Jennifer Lopez can’t act for shit, but the movie is twisty none the less)

Mob Movies; The Boondocks Saints (Nonstop fun. May be lacking in intellectual stimulation, but then again if I wanted that, I’d choose a mind fuck), The Godfather (just the first one, didn’t like the other two really), Oscar (again, but it is a good movie), Scarface (Everything not to do as a drug lord. Some good parts some mediocre parts.), Fight Club (not a traditional “mob” but very definitely organized crime, eminently quotable.)

Comedy; Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (no more need be said.), Army of Darkness (third in the evil dead series, Bruce Campbell at his finest.), The Princess Bride (again proving Comedy is the greatest genre), Trainspotting (some good lines), The Big Lebowski (some fun quotes, memorable scenes, and odd characters)

Other; One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (Nicholson is good in this one), The Matrix (The original was good, the sequels can suck my left nut), Das Boot (best submarine movie of all time), Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (I’m a sucker for westerns), True Grit (John Wayne is American cinema.)

I still watch all the new movies as they come out, but these are the 24 movies I keep coming back to on my movie shelf.

    Five favourites:

-The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Because I am a huge nerd. And I love the action sequences. Mostly because I am a huge nerd.

-V for Vendetta - Explosions, fighting a repressive government, and an anti-hero who loves to play with language, enough said.

-Princess Bride - It's been one of my favourites since I was a kid. The sarcasm...the adventure...the shrieking eels. :)

-Secondhand Lions - Because in addition to being a huge nerd, I am also a huge sap.

-Saving Grace - It has a 50 something retired english countrywoman, a whole bunch of pot, and a very memorable tea party.

    Five Worst:

-The Day After Tomorrow - I expect most survival genre movies to suck, but this one was so bad that I started drinking a quarter of the way through, and *it still wasn't funny*.

-*Any* romantic comedy starring the following:

    Hugh Grant
    Julia Roberts
    Cameron Diaz
    Sandra Bullock
    Jack Nicholson
Or any 'celebrity' star under the age of 20 that got their start either singing, being a cutesy child star or acting on Nickelodeon.

    - Pocahontas - Everything wrong with Disney in the middle 90's in one crappy package.

    - Any movie... and I mean *any* movie that replaces an 's' somewhere in the title with a 'z'. So you know its a really cutting edge streetwise movie.

    - Battlefield Earth - It was so bad, I couldnt even mock it properly. And for a period of time back when it first got picked up by the premium channels, it seemed like that *was the only movie ever showing*.

Right, I'm doing another one... Sorry. (Not really) ;)

I'll try and pick one or two for all the genres.

War Films: Apocalypse Now and The Battle for Algiers (Great French film, particularly relevant with war in Iraq.)

Horror: Psycho (invented the Slasher film, how can you not love that?) and The Shining (best Psychological Horror EVER! Take that, Hannibal Lecter! ;) )

Noir (Post modern Noir, and Traditional): Some great ones are excluded here, but I got to go with the King: Chinatown (Tie for second between Double Indemnity (Billy Wilder's Masterpiece) and Orson Welles's "Touch of Evil")

Family Film: TIE: E.T. (My opinion, Spielberg's best film). Lion King is best Animated (3 and 4 rounded by Bambi, and Toy Story 2, also recommend Princess Bride, The Little Princess, and the Iron Giant, and the Incredibles)

Comedy: Tie: Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Stopped Worrying, and Learned to love the Bomb, Airplane!, and Big Lebowski :D. Some good ones are being excluded here, but these are the two I most return to. Austin Powers is also awesome (the original).

Best Musical: Singin' in the Rain. AWESOME FLICK! Close second: More dramatic, but just as cool (although not good for kids under 13) West Side Story. (Anyone else pumped for Dreamgirls ;) )

Best Drama: Godfather 1 and 2, Citizen Kane, M (Fritz Lang's best film IMHO)

Best Action: Great Escape, Die Hard, the Matrix, Leon (aka the Professional), Kill Bills, 300 (I saw an early screening of this HIGHLY recommended when it comes out), Bourne Supremacy (knocks Identity on its ASS!)

I'll post more as I think of them. This feels like enough for now.

    Hopping on the movie bandwagon...

    Favourites:

    1. Fight Club
    2. Withnail and I
    3. Dangerous Liasons
    4. Matrix 1
    5. Batman Returns

    Worst:

    1. Anger Management. This film is actually the standard I use as 'worst film'.
    2. Van Hellsing. The lady-love's face appearing in the sky at the end...how to throw an awful film into the realms of terrible.
    3. Batman and Robin.
    4. Chick flicks and movies starring Ben Stiller playing Ben Stiller in yet another forced and cringeworthy comedy.

WHAT? You would pick "West Side Story" over "My Fair Lady" or "Fiddler on the Roof"??? Singin' in the Rain was good so I won't argue it(maybe not #1 but it's good), but My Fair Lady definitely should be up there. Audrey Hepburn was outstanding in this movie, and Haym Topol has charisma in Fiddler!

Personally I'd pick (since my tastes have changed in the last few months :p):

War Film: TIE: Lord of War or Band of Brothers (I know it's a TV show but it still kicks ass!)

Horror: TIE: Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & Dog Soldiers (I'm not sure whether to put this under comedy or not)

Noir: White Heat (Top o' the world ma!)

Family: the Incredibles, no doubt about it - though Lion King was my favourite film as a child.

Comedy: Jackass 1 or 2 :D (Johnny Knocksville is completely insane!) - Gonna have to wait for Borat to make sure though :p (Or even Not Another Teen Movie - its too hard to choose! *Oh, waily, waily!*)

Musical: The only musical I've ever even vaguely enjoyed was Grease. High School Musical can go shove itself up its own asshole.

Drama: Cruel Intentions 2 (Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a good bad girl)

    Aekiel

P.S. Van Helsing was not that bad, though I just like the werewolf so I may be biased :p

    Here's my list:

    Favorites (in no particular order):

    - LOTR Trilogy
    - A Bridge Too Far
    - As Good As It Gets
    - The Full Monty
    - Jean de Florette / Manon des Sources (These are French movies which nobody here has probably ever heard about)

Movies which I have wasted time and money upon:

    - Star Wars I, II and III
    - Godzilla (the Hollywood version). It was not really a waste of time as my friend and I laughed from the beginning to the end
    - Jingle All The Way (Governator trying his hand at comedy  )
    - Tomorrow never dies
    - The Mummy

Yeah...Casino Royale I think is the Best bond since Goldfinger (Sentimental favorite. ;) )

If you're watching James bond running through the jungle, and climbing up a half-constructed building CHASING a guy, and you're thinking, "Ugh. I can't watch this. His HAIR IS BLOND!!" Well then.....they should have dyed his hair. :D

My Fair Lady and Fiddler are awesome. Definitely belong in the top 5. BTW, we aren't talking animated flicks when we say musical (afterall, we'd never get past Disney! :D)

The others in my top 5 musicals other than 1.) Singin' in the Rain, 2.) West Side Story (I don't get HOW Caitiff didn't like this. "Crazy? YEAH! Cool? YEAAH!" 3.) Fiddler on the Roof. Awesome movie. Highly recommended. 4.) Mary Poppins Nuff said. 5.) My Fair Lady (The Rain in Spain is AWESOME!!)

Runners Up: The Wizard of Oz, 42nd Street, Yankee Doodle Dandee

Not just because he is blond, but because James Bond was supposed to have a certain demeanour, physical characteristics, and personality traits. And I felt like the first two, the new Bond did not achieve. Don't get me wrong I liked the movie as a single film, but as an adition to the James Bond collection I find it lacking.

BAH! Goadel (NO ACCENTS IN ENGLISH! :D )

You're wrong. Know why? Cause I'm just that funky, baby! ;)

Seriously, I think this is a situation where we have to agree to disagree. Strongly.

You've got the Holy Grail, awesome effects, Scouts, and Sean Connery and Harrison Ford in the same movie.

Stargate (not the series) Aliens created the Pyramids? Oh wait they did, but it's classified. That and one of Kurt Russels last good movies

Almost Famous True Story, good film, reflects touring quite well, and deals with a lot of issues

Pulp Fiction Quentin Tarantino. Enough Said.

Serenity Sci-fi action Adventure drama western film noir, everything in one. That and Joss Whedon is my master now.

    Hated:
Titantic- Everyone always says oh it won 10 oscars. and I always retort back. Hey look, it only got those oscars for special effects, music, and pretty much anything but acting, which was mediocre at best, Dicaprio only now is showing off his real acting skills.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie) Yes, Joss Whedon is my master, but only when he writes *and* directs whatever he's up too.

Catwoman- Shitty Movie from the getgo, they abandoned everything there is abouthe character except the name. But Halle Berry is hot.

Gigli- Just because you put two name actors in a movie, doesn't mean it'll be good. Gigli proves it, however Eyes Wide Shut, is an exemption to this rule because it's stanley kubrick and therefore by definition, good.

Superman IV: the Quest for peace, two sequals too far. Bryan Singer considers Supermand Returns to fit in after the second movie and completely ignore the third and fourth.
