However we do it I think it might be wise to keep the word count limited for each post. If authors are expected to contribute thousands of words we're going to run into a lot more lag than if we suggest contributions of 500-2.5k or so.

Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel inspired? Regency or Victorian age?

Hard to do horror when any suspense that's built up is crushed every time narrative voice changes. Might I suggest a time travel story whereby each author gets a time period? So Harry would be unwillingly/purposefully jumping from time to time, with each jump being an author change. It would promote different contribution lengths and styles, and well as providing a convenient over-arching plot for what essentailly might otherwise become lots of little stories.

The main disadvantage would be the cheapness of it, and maybe that each chapter would be too wildly different, but it should nonetheless smooth collaboration.

This would work well within the "extreme-AU" concept. I might steal it for a story of my own later. ;)

That it does. I'm out of thumbs, but you can have my firstborn for giving me my new wallpaper.

edit: voted HP. I'm a scrub, still reading my way through DF. I like Taure's idea. I also like Hit-Wizards. Hit-Wizard!Harry would find himself in a lot of dangerous situations.

Hit Wizard Harry gets my vote. Preferably with time travel as well.

EDIT: Hit Wizard Harry who chases dark wizards through time, with the story being a villain that is jumping between historically important points for *reasons*.

Or maybe Harry is not just chasing dark wizards through time, but is also something like a consultant on time travel accidents. I'm already drawing parallels to Dresden in my head...

Imagine HP in his dingy office, the rent of which he can barely pay with the checks he gets from the Ministry for hunting dark wizards through time. So he has to keep himself afloat with doing crazy stuff for people who experimented too much with time travel.

If Hit-Wizard!Harry will appeal to the general majority, I think the first thing we need to do is to establish what everyone understands is hiding under the term Hit-Wizard and work out a compromise.

Nope. HP is filthy rich, chasing Dark wizards is a hobby he does on the side.

    For something completely different:

We could try to write a script for the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movie. Then see how ours compares to the real thing.

I think we can say without writing it that ours would be superior. :sherlock: But it might be a fun project.

I still prefer the idea you mentioned earlier, Taure. As for the script, you should give it a go. Then when the movie comes out, we can send an email to CinemaSins, detailing all the things they did wrong.

    Taure's assassin/bodyguard idea with romance?

Everything started out perfect: the moon was casting gentle light over the Hogwarts lake while playing off the mischievous glint in her eyes as she was slowly leaning closer-

and that was when the giant squid attacked.

You guys apparently don't know the difference between genre and story concept. That's OKAY though, I still love you. I put up the actual genre suggestions, keep discussing the story idea.

I have a weakness for time travel stories, but most are terrible. Let's make sure this one isn't.
