Yes, I do, but in this case it's canon:

 

There is one fic where Harry reads about Sherlock when he is little and becomes kinda obsessed, and then Neville becomes Watson. Quite a fun fic, it strays towards guilty pleasure sometimes but it's a good enough read. Towards the end though, it feels like the author really rushes it. If I find I will post it here.

You're talking about The Chronicles of Harry Holmes. I remember enjoying them, but not much more. Time for a quick reread.

 

Not in a normal HP fic. But in a surreal story like Birth of Bardic Magic which reads like a Fairy Tale it worked for me.

I like this. While it has many, many errors, the idea behind is pretty neat. If author actually manages to curb some of his fanon ideas it'll become an even better read.

 

Zarkham. Ugh.

 

Not only are there magical cores, but they've matured. Best served with a full-bodied wine and oaky cheddar.

 

Insta-no. Like, really no.

 

It devolves into a Honks/Incest porn fest, with allusions to a more general porn fest coming up.

After being introduced as his cousin, in Chapter 7 zArkham has a disguised Tonks suck off Harry in a club because his new magical potency is threatening to explode (*eyeroll*), then a scene where she morphs again for some doggy style (badly written both times, as we were totally not supposed to realise that both were Tonks the metamorph - and yet, despite that, totally obvious).

He actually changed the earlier chapters to show that its not *really* incest because they are not *that* closely related. And what's a blowie amongst family anyhow.

 

I'll never understand this; recommending something you haven't even entirely read. What exactly causes it?

 

Shame. I like the concept. Of a magical post secondary sort of thing. Not "no really it's not incest!" Like just fuck off already, you're not fooling anyone.

 

Yeah, it's pretty awful, but magical cores are the least offensive element.

- Harry seems to have very little relation to the curious, witty boy made of elbows and knees he would have been at 11.
- In all those years before he turned 18 he never once figured out any control of his powers.
- Strong manipulative Dumbledore plot hints: McGonagall's letter, the obliviation.
- Martial arts Harry.
- Wizards who are comfortable dealing with Muggle technology.
- Muggle technology that poses a threat to wizards.

But worst of all, and absolutely unforgivable:

- Harry who unloads his entire life story to stangers he's just met, inclufing his most private memories, insecurities and vulnerabilities.

 

Even if you find some idea in Zarkham's stories interesting to explore he'll ruin everything he starts sooner or later. It all ends as smut. The guy has no self control.

 

Is it good smut?

 

He likes incest and cp. If I remember correctly of his fics.
