This summary makes the story sound like normal crap you find on FFN. But it is much worse. A better story title would have been "Harry Potter and the Missing Punctuation". I'm not sure how the story is being written, but the author does not seem to have access to a word processor with modern features like spell check or grammar check. I found about a half dozen paragraphs without any periods on the first page. But the story does have brilliant phrasing like this: "Mom hadrian ask". That piece of information was so important it got it's own paragraph.

 

Hmmmm... A clue?

That has got to be one of the stupidest excuses for combining HP and Ironman.

The fact that they pair off Hermione and Draco should tell you all you need to know.

 

Maybe, but there's been a few decent stories that's come out of that pairing. One of which, at least, spun into its own work of fiction and that series is an international best-seller now.

 

And what series would that be?

 

Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare I assume. She wrote The Draco Trilogy, but deleted it after becoming a published author.

 

Just because a fanfic writer is now an international best seller doesn't mean their fanfic or their writing is any good. After all, Fifty Shades of Grey started out as a Twilight fanfic

 

Are you saying that just because it was a Twilight fic, it's a bad piece of writing?

On top of which, though we love to throw around "good" and "good writing," at some point, there also has to be a recognition that enough people consider it "good enough" to buy and read. And with the exception of a few people here at DLP, that means the entirety of their writing/concept/plot/etcera was more "good enough" than any of ours.

But, before we derail this thread anymore and bring down the wrath of the mods, I'll stop there and give you last word if you want to post a response.

It was, yeah. Word-for-word plagiarism of a whole bunch of different television shows and books. Sometimes entire scenes were copied. All of it without crediting the original authors.

 

Not really. It certainly claimed to be Twilight fanfic, but it had zero things in common with Twilight beyond the names of the main characters.

I haven't read it though. All in all, I can't say that I'm interested.

 

Similarly abusive as Twilight, funnily enough. Then again I think Twilight could've been a good book, if it were written by a better author and without the whole fucked up half abusive relationship that was going on.

In which case it wouldn't really be twilight I guess. You could do some interesting things with the plot though, and it's a shame that Twilight did none of that.

 

No, I'm saying Fifty Shades of Grey is awful and the writer started out writing fanfic.

I was originally a twilight fanfic with the main characters being Twilight character. The author replaced all the names and touched up the story stripping the vampires and such from the story.
