This will be the first time we ever hear anything about Sasuke's convictions right?

For the longest time he's always been about amassing strength for vengeance and nothing more.

Now that I think about it that first Team 7 introduction bit has defined this characters for the whole manga. Well except for Naruto whose actually grown.

So, I'm a little bit interested in what he's going to say. I just hope it makes sense.
I hope that instead of fighting right out, they kinda, sorta have a debate and we see Naruto's logic winning over Sasuke's.

I really liked what Sasuke said to Sakura. Like to him and to me, her love just doesn't make sense. He never asked her to love him and at the same time he's never been interested in her in that way. So why the fuck does a grown man like a Kakashi not understand that.

Kishimoto really loves his unrequited Love doesn't he? I think they're only three legit couples in the whole story. Everyone else is pining for someone else whose pining for someone else.

 

Hmm. Does what Sasuke said to Orochimaru about only killing people like Itachi and Oro count as conviction even if he quickly threw it out the window after learning the truth about Itachi?

 

Yes actually. At the time, I think Kishi really was going to make him go full antagonist by making as see his gradual decent into it. For example, didn't he basically kill all those bandits in their hideout, which was reminiscent of the guys he refused to kill in Oro's lair?

 

Bandits? To get Zabuza's sword? Wasn't that filler? He did cut down the Samurai at the summit though.

 

The bandits and the recovery of Zabuza's sword was not filler it happened right after the battle with Kakuzu and Hidan ended.

 

In the manga, they just picked up the sword from Zabuza's grave. In the anime, it was taken by this guy first.

 

*sigh* I had been holding out hope that the character of Sasuke I enjoyed during the Itachi battle and in part one would shine through. Everything has now become batshit bipolar about Sasuke. I don't hate him, but kishimito has finally screwed up the character beyond all repair. I'm more frustrated at Kishimoto for ruining interesting characters.

 

For a while now I've been thinking of Sasuke kind of like I think of Kratos. Both crazy dbags but entertaining. I'm just going with the flow.

Ok I understand Sasuke's plan for peace, it is something fanfiction writers have ended their stories with, though they usually have Naruto be the scapegoat. Hell, Watchmen centered its plot around this idea.

But, what the hell does it have to do with being Hokage? He wants to lead Konoha but also have the five nations, including Konoha, united against him.

How does that work?

 

He is saying that being Hokage is not like Tsunade (protecting the village from the inside) but like Itachi( protecting it from the outside) all the while being hated and being called a traitor.

So, sortof like COde Geass.

 

Sasuke thinks he's goddamn Lelouch.

Which is gibberish. A leader is always inside what they are leading otherwise they are not leading it, someone else is.

 

Uh, no. He's saying that Itachi doing things that made him Hated for the Good of the Village is what a Hokage should be. That a Hokage should be despised by the people for what he does, because somehow, he thinks that if he's enough of an asshole that EVERYEONE hates him, somehow people won't hate anyone else and all the hatred will condense onto him like he's some sort of hatred magnet.

It's retarded. Suffering breeds hatred. If you're such a douchewad that everyone hates you, the people will be suffering, and their suffering will breed hatred in between them and others as well.

 

Why... do I suspect Kishi is gonna leave an open ending to Naruto so that he can continue the series, if he wants to, 5-10 years down the line?

 

The only part of Sasuke's speech that made sense was the part where he said that Itachi would have made a good Hokage.

Yes, he would have - because he understood the need for ruthlessness, but also because he had a kindness and genuine love for others that Sasuke sorely lacks.

Sasuke is not his brother. All his life he lived in Itachi's shadow, but even now, with the power of a God in his hands (or in his eye, as it may be), he is still nothing next to the thirteen year old boy who chose the greater good over the lives of his family. Sasuke doesn't have ideals - he has plot-determined knee-jerk reactions in which he attempts to rationalize his bad decisions.

Sasuke's plan may sound at least somewhat doable-if retarded-, in theory, but how the fuck would he go about actually practising it? Okay, so he kills Naruto and the five Kage. Then what? Does he kill the newly elected Kage again? Rinse and repeat? How does that change the world in any way? It might change the system, maybe, but that doesn't mean that the whole world will unite.

And even if (somehow mgically) a deal is struck that everyone unites to deal with Sasuke, we've seen the results of throwing scores of grunts against a godlike opponent before, and it wasn't pretty. So what? Even if Sasuke allows himselfd to be killed, the world will pretty much return to its previous, separated state.

 

Alright that settles it then, Kurama for Hokage. No one liked Kurama for like...Well actually does anyone beside Naruto and the Sage like Kurama at this point? If the qualifying criteria for "Being hokage" is making everyone hate you, Kurama/Madara/Danzou are the best ones for the job.
