Something to consider about the SoM thing is that the only reason it came to light is because TB exposed it and he's a firm supporter at this point. Additionally some supporters have written to WB/Monolith over this.

    IA is ruining this stream.

Edit:Though I can't fault him that much as he'd been drinking. He was expecting a casual stream like last week where people joked around and did Jesse Ventura/Alex Jones impressions and instead he got this.

Eh, he got a bit carried away but I can't say he was wrong, and it was an interesting discussion.

Ya there was a point he got a bit carried away, but I think he held it together rather well. I've been in that situation where you were drinking and expecting something relaxing and suddenly it's all serious and you're coming off like a bit of an asshole. Luckily it didn't get too bad and then they moved on.

On the other hand, most likely didn't buy Shadow of Mordor for the story.

The story was ME3's greatest selling point going in.

I can't say I'm all that surprised reaction to the whole thing has been pretty tepid; some indie text adventure anti-game is a much easier target than a game people actually like. No conflicting feelings.

MSNBC had Brianna Wu and some dude I've never heard of before on air doing smear on GG.

KoP has a stream right now here...

    http://www.hitbox.tv/kingofpol

Talk seems to be leaning to contacting Fox and business and market news for GG side of the story...

The Wu thing is annoying, she seems disingenuous. She was browsing ∞chan so she knows that everyone on the board was yelling at the OP that doxxed her. The mod for the board deleted the thread as soon as they got online to see it, about 30 minutes after original posting, and apologized to her for not being online earlier. We also reported the dude on twitter as soon as we saw it to get them banned.

Yesterday she was being pretty chill about the whole thing and said that she didn't know if it was actually someone from gamergate that contacted her on twitter, that it was just an assumption. She was asking Adam Baldwin, and later Milo, to meet her over coffee to discuss things. Baldwin told her that he'd be happy to if she was close to where he lived and Milo declined meeting up but did offer to interview her on a podcast. It really seems like she was just offered an interview on MSNBC and jumped onto the better media exposure.

Edit:was wrong about the form of interview that was planned

I think Adam also asked her to apologize for bringing up GG because it led to a surge of anti GG tweets and that may have made her angry.

Ya, it was pretty bad. She blew off appearing on Milo's radio show to do an interview to do that. Milo was pretty pissed and said he was taking a break from GG to cool off.

Edit: Also Quinn and Hotwheels will be on a web stream with the Huffington Post tomorrow at some point. The way the media has been painting all of this has Hotwheels saying he's not going to take this too seriously since they're probably going to keep trying to paint it as a war on women.

Edit: Aaaaaand according to Mundanematt's new video Quinn backed out of the interview, what a shocker.

I don't outright agree with the rest of the article, but these two bits are pretty spot on.

But petty corruption and sex aren't what really pissed everyone off. Sure, the mob got a bit riled up for them, but it would have died down in a few days. What caused this to go on for so long is the slew of "Gamers are Dead" and "Gamers are Misogynistic Shitlords" articles. The press, which is supposed to at least present the illusion of being on the same side as gamers, turned on them.

Imagine what happened if fishing magazines began publishing "Fishing is for Sad Middleage Losers who Can't Please Their Wives" articles. There'd be a similar situation. Imagine if Nuts published articles about how pornography is a misogynistic violation of women. Imagine if car magazines started writing about how anyone who likes expensive cars is a teenage douchebag or is overcompensating for their tiny cock. It's all the same situation.

Sure, the Five Guys incident was a little shitty, and there was some slut-shaming and witch-hunting amidst the genuine concerns which were raised, but that wasn't important. It's the reaction by the press which mattered.

    - They closed ranks
    - Either ignored the facts or did not check them
    - Waged a smear campaign against their target audience

And they did this all out of an insincere attempt to look good for external groups, whether for brownie points, a desire to not get caught in the crossfire, or just orders from upstairs.

The goal of GamerGate is a bit confused, but honestly, it's less a petition for action than the reaction of someone's hurt, betrayed feelings when his friend turns around, drops his pants, and takes a shit right on him.
