Seriously, Naruto, just use a Bijuudama Rasenshuriken or something, but take out those goddamned eyes. I'm sick of the Sharingan. Even the sight of it makes me weary nowadays. Just get rid of it. It all went to shit as soon as the Mangekyou happened.

Either way, I'm praying for a fantastic fight, and a climactic ending (I'm delusional, yes). Hopefully they lose every damn powerup and just end up with the standard kunai and taijutsu.

Knowing how well Kishi does flashbacks, though -

To be fair the whole point of this section is that Naruto understands people who he is fighting while he is fighting them, not figures them out due to his talk-no-jutsu. Which is actually really fucking impressive.

Anyway I liked this chapter. More in line with what I was expecting from the climax than Kaguya.

 

To his credit, Sasuke has a solid plan.

I just want to know how Sasuke's plan differs from Nagato's.

 

Nagato's plan was scaring them into not attacking in the first place. Each village would be relatively isolated but there would be no war since war would mean MAD.

Sasuke is making them work together to fight against him, like they did against Tobito and Madara and he is willing to do so for a really long time. Pretty much the plan in Watchmen.

Naruto's version is going to be "trust me, I got this" and nothing else. At least, that has been his answer so far.

 

Nagato planned to create a WMD and give it to the nations rather than use it himself, That way, his plan would work even after his death.

Sasuke plans to be the WMD and live forever, forcing the nations to always stay united to constantly fight him. Ofcourse he has no idea how to actually succeed in living forever, but he figures he will find a way with the rinnegan, somehow. Which is funny since it was Naruto that got the life-giving yang-powerup. If one of them should have their life extended, it should be Naruto.

Thats about it. Other than that, they are mostly the same plans. Unite through fear and terror over something. In Nagatos case a boogeyman WMD. In Sasukes case, a boogeyman shinobi.

How long would that really work though? And is that peace? Constantly devoting resources and sending people to die against Sasuke? (since he would have to maintain a constant threat of himself by regularly attacking and terrorizing the villages). Sasukes solution seems to be an eternal war, where resources are constantly being used to fight him and people being sent to die trying to kill him. How is that really different from the villages fighting each other?

Either way, resources that could have been used for better purposes during peace are now wasted against Sasuke. And people that could have lived long lives die against Sasuke. Basically, in Sasukes plan, the war goes on exactly as it always has does it not? Only the name of the enemy changes (Sasuke rather than another village).

I get the feeling that Sasuke is kinda missing the point here. The point of unity among Shinobi world is not so they can say "we are united! Huzzah!". Its that the unity would bring peace that would STOP people starving due to resources being devoted to war instead of feeding them, stop civilians getting caught in the crossfire and losing everything, stop shinobi dying young and so on.

Unity is meaningless if it does not improve the situation by bringing an END to fighting. Sasukes plan for unity requires the villages to continue fighting him without end. There will be no peace. Unity yes, but no peace. Just a war against Sasuke that continues on. Forever.

 

To be fair, Sasuke has no reason not to think the Rinnegan/Sharingan combo wouldn't grant him immortality or at least longevity. The sage heritage spits out powers left and right.

I wouldn't say that the Rinnegan/Sharingan combo should grant him immortality automatically but they should definitely give him the means to achieve it. Rinnegan theoretically allows one to learn any technique. Sasuke learning or creating a jutsu that makes him immortal isn't a stretch at all seeing as there's been other people in the series who have done so.

Well, Sasuke can moderate his own behavior. He has no need to kill shinobi attacking him when he can trap them in genjutsu or whatever. Also I'd think that after a certain amount of time fighting together the bonds between these villages would be incredibly strong so I doubt that Sasuke would actually need to keep doing this forever nonstop.
