Am I the only one completely underwhelmed by the trailer? It didn't seem to have any real narrative thread, just a series of semi-random snippets intended to make fanboys squee.

 

It's more of a teaser than a trailer, so of course it doesn't show much.

Still, did anyone catch the Vision anywhere? I was looking for him, but didn't see him.

Despite the lack of solid content - 'cause apparently 80% of all Avengers promos are going to be composed of slowed-down shots of mobs screaming and running away in wrecked versions of big cities - I actually quite liked it, especially the chilling note of the song.

 

Could have been structured differently, yes, could have let other characters talk... Had a few similarities to the first Avengers trailer, particularly the screaming crowds on the streets...

But James Spader sells it for me. I actually got a chill listening to him.

I can't wait for Hulk vs Buster, can't wait to see how the twins are used, and I'm looking forward to the coming schism, with everyone blaming Stark for the destruction...

(Unless of course they play it like the Ultimates did, in that when the Hulk was released in the comics, the public didn't know Banner did it on purpose to give the team an enemy to justify their existence, and Stark is going to dodge the blame in the end.)

With any luck, they'll kill Pepper and finally explore Stark's alcoholism in Cap 3, kicking off the Civil War, and leading to a redemption arc in Avengers 3.

The rumours I've seen recently basically say the Avengers themselves won't survive this movie (either through death or resignation), and Cap will be putting together a new team by himself either in the stinger or in Cap 3.

 

Alternate Universe.

 

I get that. It's just that I've been exposed to the civil war via Spider Man, and I believe that his back and forth was the most interesting thing of the whole deal. Everything else read weird, but I liked how he was in Tony's debt and agreed to do something he didn't really think was a right thing.

This Peter Parker's arch is and will perhaps remain the only piece of the Civil War that I liked, and honestly, even though they will try, I'm not sure this alternate universe will be as interesting. Admittedly, here I'm invested more in Iron Man and Captain than I was reading the comics, but even then not as much as I could be.

 

Seconded, though not completely unimpressed. Hulkbuster armor (how much of it they showed) was awesome.

 

I can understand this viewpoint, but I would much rather it give only hints of the plot as opposed to telling us the whole story.

There will be plenty more spoilerish trailers to come.

 

The bot that Ultron grabbed in the tower scene had vision's colors. Also at one point you see Tony looking at this same bot.

As for the Civil War, I get the feeling they'll replace Spidey's role with Daredevil.

Cap's new team: Secret Avengers? They have it set up. We might see Starlord in place of Nova.

From what I remember of Civil War, Black Widow stayed on Stark's side supporting the Registration. This doesn't make much sense in this universe considering her and Cap seem to be pretty good friends by the end of Winter Soldier (and she helped bring HYDRA's big brother plan, which is an awful lot like the Registration Act), so I'm guessing it won't be the same Civil War as the comics, it might not even be about registration. I hope/dread they go the Cap being assassinated route. Crossbones is there so it's highly possible.

 

Downey is officially signed on for Cap 3 and Avngers 3.

 

Wasn't this the comiccon trailer? I don't think Marvel ever intended it to be used for mass viewing before the leak happened.


On a related note is QS's hair getting whiter the more he uses his power? He was a brunette in WS and in a scene in the trailer.

I love Vision but I'm kinda sad they'll be pushing Vis/Wanda. I'm a Scarlet America kinda girl.

 

Apparently Cap3 will have Stark and Cap feuding. So Im pretty sure this movie will have some far reaching consequences either way.

Im personally thinking Hulk vs HulkBuster is down to Scarlet Witch hexing him.

Thor, well, no idea but hes quick to anger, so, maybe if the Hammer stops listening to him again, or Jane gets injured.

Thor's "oh shit wtf" face was hilarious.

 

That scene was eerily close to that one fic where Cap could actually lift it and thought everyone else was joking.
