I think its just them doing a red herring, like that look he got at the end of the last episode. They know at least half, maybe more, of their viewers probably dont even know who Ray Palmer is, so theyll play him up as a villain just to cause suspense/drama.

Wait you didn't really believe that did you? He was just using facts to flirt with her.

He bought the company as what I'm pretty sure is his rebuild Starling City plan.

I know a lot of people probably missed it but he has been given character outside flirting with Felicity.

I don't mind Palmer, I think most of the hate comes from people who want Felicity with Oliver. Which I never really saw happening. Ever.

Why do all male main characters in the DC CW universe want to pork Felicity??????

Also, Oliver/Felicity for the pathetically short life it had was extremely awkward and crappy. He actress for Felicity either sucks at acting or the script was just stupid.

It was a stupid plot just to add for 1 episode.

My main gripe with the show.

CW did the same with Chloe Sullivan in Smallville. They love their geeky female blonde hacker types.

I think the show creators were kinda surprised that Olicity took off the way it did online.

The motivations for Oliver not killing Malcom are pretty poor tbh, he might not want to kill and upset Thea, but how many people might die when the league come knocking?

Also, while I loved Malcom this episode, Im a little worried the writers will have him "know everything" thats been going on, I want there to be some mystery in a plot somewhere about something Malcom DOSENT know.

Oliver and Thea lying to each other now. Haha.

Laurel seems better, but the rate shes going, I reckon she'll start her Canary career like Oliver did his in s1, with the killing.

I'm thinking this has more to do with sticking to his ideals more than protecting thea's dad especially when you consider the reason he stopped killing was because Tommy showed him just how wrong that was and then he ups and kills the guys dad?

In fact I loved this episode for showing everyone just going, fuck it kill the guy. Usually its the sidekicks who are going to pull the hero from that dark path but to see them shove him there..interesting.

Oliver has really matured in this two seasons. Last season tempered his resolve and will to never break his promise not to kill and you think that its illogical that Oliver doesn't kill Merlyn?

I think it's logical to avoid killing. Nothing to do with Merlyn or not, just that he wants to be a hero. And wanting to be a hero is more than simply not killing, it's also about not letting others die, like Batman jumping out of a window to catch the Joker in Origins. Nothing to do with Merlyn specifically, simply that he will not condone killing of anyone.

That, however, says nothing about why he won't arrest Merlyn. It won't stick, he'll escape? Fine, let him, even make sure there's no killing when he does. At least he's back in the system, the police force and bureaucracy know he's alive. That should restrict his options somewhat. Ultimately, it's not a binary choice between killing and letting walk free, and I'm disappointed that the show chose to portray it that way.

The way it's showed, it really does seem like he's letting Merlyn walk so Thea has some protection, and that flies in the face of everything he's setting himself up to be. The others on the show repeatedly point out that Merlyn's killed so many others, what about them? Don't they deserve some small measure of justice?

The only way I can see Olliver trusting the system to hold Malcolm even for a little while is if he gave him to Waller but then Waller would just kill Merlyn and be done with it so that's not an option.

I'm sure he has a plan. Better to keep him close where he can keep an eye on him and eventually capture him when he's sure it will stick than to just hand him to detective Lance and hope for the best.

The point isn't to have him be held, the point I'm making is why not show the world he's alive. If Oliver has a plan, then great, or maybe he's keeping an eye on Merlyn. Both valid points. If that isn't the rationale then I'm not sure I agree with the direction he chose.

Thea: "I'm leaving because you lied to me about a earthshattering secret that you only knew for a week or two before I found out."

    5 months later

"I'm lying to your face and I don't see the hypocrisy."

How much you wanna bet that when it all comes out in the open, Thea is still going to act the part of the victim.

Ok, i'm starting to wonder just how long this Oliver - Thea secret keeping thing is going to last.

I'm usually not really one for that kind of drama, but I'm really looking forward to its resolution.

Yes, he talks about saving the city, saving Thea, etc, and while his no killing promise works, he's been shown to kill when the situation still calls for it. But, when the League comes knocking for Merlyn and brings war to Starling again, probably a load more deaths, Thea will probably be their leverage, so she'll be in danger, and all the bodies Malcom has wracked up, I think it needs a bit more of an explanation next episode.

    And yeah Narf, I agree.

Heard a rumor next episode is her starting to use Malcoms funds to buy a house or something.

I liked felicity, but with each episode she becomes more and more of a Mary Sue...

Honestly I can't stand her anymore because of this. She was introduced as an IT person who's able to competantly get stuff done, but her abilities have increased with her screen time. It's gotten to the point of blatant ridiculousness, taking her computer skills from somewhat within the realm of possibility to 1980s Hollywood hacker movie levels.

On the episode of The Flash that she was in, she needed to hack something or another. Cisco said he could do it in half an hour, she said she could get it done in less than a minute. The actual time it took her from when she started typing to "I'm in"? Seven seconds. From a computer that she'd never been on before. It could take longer than that just to log on.

She also has everyone falling in love with her: Ollie, Barry Allen, the new head of Queen Consolidated. I mean, come on. Also as a result of her popularity, she leaches screentime from Diggle, which I hate because he's my favorite of the two OCs. Screw pretty blonde superhacker, I want the fleshed out 3D Diggle we had season one. They can find a balance.

The only downside Felicity's ever been shown to have is her proclivity to put her foot in her mouth and make situations awkward, but even that could be spun in a positive way as it's sort of endearing.

Totally agree. But I am kind of used to it as I watched Smallville for ten years. Ten long years of Chloe fucking Sullivan.

Has Felicity ever really used super hacking to solve an Arrow episode plot? No. Mostly she discovers information that will push the plot forward instead of them wasting time looking for things and what not.

So far her main role has been acting as the moral center of their crew. Everything else with the hacking has just been a way for her to contribute. So I don't see how she's becoming a mary sue.

Merlyn told her that he had known for months/years and he didn't tell her. Which Thea brought up and then Oliver tried to explain it was only weeks, but she wasn't in a mood to listen.
