Edit: I don't see much slash on Ficwad in the HP section, but the others are guilty as accused. Hpfanficarchive swears by its no-slash policy, but conversely hosts a glut of harem madness of varying degrees.

Your thoughts on slash aside, i quite like the idea of not having my search pool diluted with slash fics.

Especially when most search filters that let you filter pairing types inexplicably include 'gen' when selecting m/f, which is ff code for 90% likelihood of slash.

 

Wait a sec, you're saying that banning slash is a bad idea? Really?

What? Plenty of sites specialize in certain types of erotic fiction. What's wrong with not wanting something on your site that your readers are specifically trying to ignore? It doesn't mean that the site is "denying" someone that wants to read slash, merely that they have to go elsewhere to find it, which is really not that hard.

 

How about we go back on topic?

Here's one peeve, not exactly recently acquired, but it'll do.

Train-ride friendships when first journeying to Hogwarts. Yes, I know it can be done decently, even fantastic, but it just irks me how people that Harry sat in the compartment with would become his besties and how, occasionally, Harry would just end up in the same House as them, conveniently circumventing whatever House boundaries there might have, or not, preventing him from reaching out.

I'm not quite sure why, but it aggravates me a lot.

 

It's worth mentioning that while in canon Harry became friends with Ron during the train ride, when he met Hermione on the same trip she came across poorly.
