Also, that "Hail Odysseus" fic that you brought up a few pages back, Sesc, it really started going bad. Bad as in "Harry brings in submachine guns, hand grenades and disposable rocket launchers to Hogwarts and starts instructing Ginny in how to use them" kind of bad.

The latest chapter introduced Ginny's love for submachine guns and grenades. We also learned that the shield charm is inferior to a kevlar west.

 

But what's with magic + technology? They do take muggle technology and enchant it.

 

OK, you're of course right with that. Alone from the fact, that the wizards can hide and stay hidden in our society, than they have a serious edge with their Magic and many other things. I read the Muggle vs Magic thread here on DLP and agree with the general thrust there.

 

Dear lord, Harry is such a petulant child in the first chapters, with the classic fail of explaining absolutely everything to the first group (Shepard's crew) he meets.

I'm hoping he gets better, but yeah, it's probably just a bad trainwreck.

Edit: Well, it gets a little bit better, but the author's warnings at the start rang true. I'm also a little worried/annoyed by the "stages of grief" and how it's some sort of overarching theme for shaping Harry the entire fic.

Since the fic is finished, I wish he's just upload it at once, not little by little for over a month. That just sounds like review and hit whoring to me. But then again, I'm just an impatient, selfish reader.

 

7k words a day is hardly "little by little".

 

There are 43 chapters. And it's already been completely written.

 

Ahahahahahhaa. Harry just single handedly conquered Khar'shan in a single day, freed the slaves, and enslaved the slavers.

This is the best story ever.

 

Promising fic (though I've only read the first chapter so far). There are a few annoyances -- the interview prologue, for example -- but it's not enough to dent the potential. We have a world in which Voldemort won and where James is married to a pure-blood. He has two sons, one bastard son with Lily (Harry) and one with his pure-blood wife (Robert). The fic starts with James arranging for Lily to tutor Harry, who is unaware that Lily is his mother.

There are various changes in setting too, such as Hogwarts, Durmstrang, etc being "top schools" rather than the only schools.

Talented Harry + interesting setting + decent writing + no bashing = interesting

My only worry is that it's going to be such a Harry wank that there's no real plot or conflict.

 

Haha, didn't make the connection between the author and you. I did wonder, when I got to chapter 2, if the author was a DLPer, given the magical theory
