Jesus. What the fuck did the kid do? Did he go ape-shit and murder someone? No, he simply vandalized a monument with water paint. That doesn't mean he's a dick, a little terror, or a terrible brat.

    Pipe down already.

Normal kids usually don't think, 'Hey! Let's deface an important monument for lulz today!'

I am not calling that kid bolt unless everybody starts calling Naruto Mealstorm or Fishcake.

It is Mi-na-to, Na-ru-to, Ba-ru-to. It even rhymes.

    You don't translate names. That's translation 101.

Except for when the name is supposed to be a word from another language? Like Bolt, or Pain.

    @Tasoli

Not checking the raws, but I imagine Baruto is katakana, referencing the English word "Bolt" as a homage to Neji (the only one in the manga, along with Jiraiya, who had the fucking decency to stay dead).

I think it's perfectly acceptable to translate katakana loanwords as their English equivalent, since that's what they mean, though I agree it might sound a bit more stupid in English than as a loanword in Japanese.

I will give you the Pain but not only Bolt is stupid sounding it also loses some mening when you call him bolt instead of Baruto which an obviously has been named following Naruto and Minato in same way Hinawari is obviously named as Hyuuga.

It is like translating a poem or song. You don't google translate that shit. Be mindfull of full implications behind the chosen words and like.

Edit: Hell my name means Flood and Excessive in English. Both are correct, Stupid sounding and I will naver intraduce myself as it. So NO.

In Pain's case it didn't lose that much in translation so that was okey in my book.

Again, Bolt is an homage to Neji, whose name means screw. It's not stupid.

Yes. However I think what he means is that you don't translate Neji to Screw. You call him Neji just like you should refer to Boruto as such and not as Bolt.

While this is true if it was underhanded and they were being lied to but why does it have to be done that way? I'm pretty sure just about any kid would flat out pick option A: get to play/train with shadow clone of dad over option B: barely get to spend 1v1 time with dad.

I really think some people aren't recognizing the difference between using a shadow clone for something big like "Anniversary dinner with wife" or "Meeting with other hokages" to something vastly smaller and less serious like "Playing with/Training son in the ninja ways".

Then again maybe that's just my way of thinking and a lot of people really would take issue with it.

So, let's see if I get all the meanings. The kid is called Bolt because:

    1)Naming tradition: Minato-Naruto-Boruto.
    2) Homage to Neji: Both names mean screw.
    3) Spiral naming theme (the one in the bolt)
    4) Possible because of the thunderbolt meaning as homage to the yellow flash.

It sounds wrong when it is translated but with all those meaning it is not half bad.

Well, the thing is that a kid wouldn't exactly like the idea of being treated as "vastly smaller and less serious" than the other things in their parents' life. Even if it's true.

"Boruto" (ボルト) is the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "bolt," as evidenced by the bolt he wears around his neck. His name is a reference to both his father and his second cousin Neji, whose name means "screw" (捻子, neji).

Is from the Naruto wiki. Calling him Boruto would be like calling Cloud Strife Kuraudo Sutoraifu.

Fact of the matter is, there's enough reasons on BOTH sides of the equation that it really just comes down to a matter of preference. In the Cloud Strife situation, there's no prior established "rules" with the name like there is with Boruto(rhyming with Naruto/Minato).

And as far as the reference to of Boruto being Bolt like Neji's name being Screw, as someone already pointed out...how many of us call Neji "Screw"?

Even if you say its just because we didn't know, are you going to really start calling Neji 'Screw'? Of course not because that sounds retarded. But Bolt doesn't sound nearly as bad as Screw and even kinda makes sense due to Minato's title and i'm sure Naruto got a similar title. Bolt can be thought of in terms of a lightning bolt.

tl;dr The naming of Bolt/Boruto has enough evidence for both sides it just comes down to preference.

It's a Japanese steal of the English word. That's why we, who speak English, are much more familiar with "Bolt" instead of "Boruto". I think Boruto sounds retarded and isn't "real" Japanese. That's why while I think the name is stupid, it's better to write and say as Bolt. If the name is English, say it in English. If it's Japanese, say it in Japanese. Don't do these awkward-sounding cross-language direct translations.

Well i've just had my day made already. Supposedly a group of hardcore NaruSaku fans have started a petition to ban Naruto manga from the USA unless Kishimoto writes a different dimension ending with Naruto ending up with Sakura and there's 183 people that's signed so far with a goal of 1,000.

    Link is here.

I really want to believe that this is just a joke, but part of me believes at least half of that number really want to ban Naruto from the USA because the pairing wars didn't go their way.

I believe Neji is his first cousin once removed.

The difference is that Neji isn't an English word while Bolt is. When you call Neji 'Neji' and Bolt 'Bolt' you're not translating either of them but pronouncing them as they're suppose to be pronounced.

The judgment is that everyone is freaking out because her glasses look like Karin's and she has Sasuke's hair. She's been blown way out of proportion. Having glasses doesn't make her Karin's daughter.

First off, why do you think she needs glasses in the first place? Sakura didn't. Don't think we've seen a single Uchiha who needed glasses. The anime/Road To Ninja movie showed Sakura's parents, they didn't need glasses.

So the simple fact that Sarada needs glasses is already 1 point towards Karin as mother. The second fact that Sarada looks nothing like Sakura. Not eye color, not hair color, not huge forehead. But her eye shape and nose shape is reminiscent of Karin's.

Add to the fact we still never even saw Sasuke take definitive romantic action towards Sakura and only flicked her forehead as he was leaving...i mean at this point there's more evidence that Sarada isn't Sakura's daughter than her ending up actually being her daughter.
