Uzumaki by AlmostElectric is pretty decent. It's not perfect - has some fluff here and there, and a few bits are just canon rehash - but there are some interesting twists on the main story aside from Sasuke being female.

This is a pretty good story set in a AU verse where Naruto is about 2 years younger than in Canon, this along with certain events such as the Uchiha massacre never happening means Sasuke isn't a total prick. He's actually very charismatic. The story is pretty much a focus on the friendship he forms with a pretty fucked up Naruo.

 

What do you mean about pretty fucked up Naruto? I once read an ff where Naruto was taken into the forest and repeatedly raped by Sakura's mother. So on a scale from 1 to that how fucked up?

 

More of a Root kind of fucked up. Not as bad as Sai but still pretty wonky.

from what I remember it's bashing galore, but Sakura's mum (who rapes Naruto to get a bloodline) and Sasuke get it the worst. Also everyone and their mother wants to sleep with Naruto.

Naruto as Sasuke (The Fucked Up One) and Sasuke as Naruto (The Charismatic One) sounds absolutely horrible.

 

From what I've read of it Sasuke has a normal childhood while Naruto's been partially weaponized due to some Root screw up.

 

I'll put in my recommendation for that story as well. Not only am I pretty certain it's been rec'd previously, for most of what I read comes from DLP, but I have been reading it since about chapter four.

It is an excellent story. I'm not sure what those other guys are talking about, with Sasuke being charismatic. He's simply not screwed in the head, for reasons that become obvious later.

Naruto, on the other hand, is less like a copy of Sasuke given a Naruto reskin, and more like a very reticent person. He doesn't seem broody, or anything. He is also, this being a personal favorite of mine, stronger than Sasuke, but not powerful beyond reason. He's definitely what you would call, a high level genin. Perhaps even on the level of a chunin, at least in combat ability.

Now, while Naruto being strong is all well and good, this story's true ability to shine is in the interactions between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto has some issues with restraint, when it comes to his training, and almost never speaks. Watching Sasuke becoming friends with Naruto, regardless of circumstance, is heartwarming. It lacks the qualities that would make one call it a "bro-mance", but the friendship aspect of this story is very well done, nonetheless.

Lastly, the author is a very good writer. He makes few grammatical and spelling mistakes, has good pacing and a very nice style. I wouldn't be against someone placing this story up for review in the library.

All in all, abandon your prejudices and check it out. It's great.

 

Some people just abhor the idea of an OOC likable Sasuke.

I can sympathise, I'm the same with Snape and Draco.

 

I checked it out, it was enjoyable, if average, up until the alternate version of team 7 (the canon version I take it?), entered their world, then that starting the comparison of the two seperate teams and the fapping over the authors version starts. Tried skipping one chapter hoping they were gone, nope. Two chapters, three... four? Nope, the shitness continues.

Way to make me lose interest in an otherwise decent fic. Id recommend the first half for an enjoyable average read, but try not to cross out like I did for the second half with the arrival of the second team seven. Who knows it might of gotten better, maybe you can stomach it, I however didn't make it that far.

 

That part read more like a sidestory kind of thing. I usually don't mind those even if they're inherently masturbatory.

 

Time-traveling redeemed-Sasuke. I need it!
