    ^This.
The movie Papa Midnight came across as wise and simply weary of the struggle but good at heart. The show Papa Midnight came across as nothing but a greedy douchebag who I want dead at the earliest possible moment.

On another note I found out that they have cast and will be introducing The Spectre as a recurring character on the show. I am very very very hesitant about this, The Spectre is one of my absolute favorite comic characters but I don't see how the literal embodiment of Gods Vengeance on Earth is going to translate well to television.

Honestly, I kinda prefer everything from the movie. It managed a nice blend of grimdark and snarky humor. The show has yet to find that equilibrium.

I liked the latest episode. So far it's been a lot of talk about bad things happening, but I feel they hit all the right notes on this one.

How they dealt with him having to kill his friend.

Interest continues to be peaked. I also really like the theme song.

Canon Papa Midnight was a greedy, murderous asshole. The TV series has it right, not the movie.

This is shaping up to be a strong show, new girl is far better than the pilot girl, who apparently will never be mentioned again. Although I didn't re-watch the pilot, did they put in an extra bit getting rid of her?

I'm starting to think I wouldn't like canon and that reading it after the movie will be a task.

Canon or not, movie Midnight is better.

The end scene where she discovers that murder that was supposed to get her to fight, instead apparently ran her out of town. Chas hints at the fact that Constantine purposely had the driver go out of his way to have her wander on to the scene.

They added a minute scene at the end that says that, as well as shows the map with all the blood spots indicating someone in trouble. She scried the map, then ran away.

Not sure if that scene was there on earlier viewings.

Anyway, I'm liking it. Has strong vibes of a darker, more horror version of Supernatural.

This episode gave him a few more dimensions than the complete psycho we've seen up until now.
He's not got a heart of gold, but he has clearly got a his own moral standards (or at least a willingness to clean up his own messes and honor what he owes.) He also has a dark past that apparently mirrors Constantine's. Anyway he's more interesting as an occasional allie than an out and out villain.

Somehow I am not surprised. Networks are failing to realize that people will actually wait a season or two before checking out new shows.

    Because of this very reason.

Mmm, a shame. The show definitely had a lot of potential.

Least it's not a cancellation a la Firefly style.

Eh he sounds like my old housemate, who was scouse to the bone, so I'd reckon they nailed it, or at leased a plausible variation of it. The stereotypical scouse accent you see on tv tends to be pretty unflattering and over exaggerated anyway, so I'm glad they didn't try for it.

Jamie Carragher is my basis for comparison for Scouse accent, is he exaggerating his own accent? Lol

Not everyone picks up a heavy accent typical of the place they grew up, I know I didn't. Scouse, like many accents has a lot of variation in it depending on what part of Liverpool he was supposed to be from, plus he may have lived there until he was a young man but its obvious hes been living other places the last few years, that would distort his accent still further. My point is its identifiable but not overly exaggerated, which is pretty good considering its an American show.

Edit: Damn that was good, fuck them for cancelling this already.

It hasn't been officially cancelled and apparently it got an increase in viewers, so that's good.

An increase in viewership, even if only slightly per week is a good sign, it means the show might be good enough to get by on word of mouth.
