Sure you have probably come across Sound of Pulling Heaven Down, but thought I'd link it in case you haven't. Only good Gurren Lagann fic I've come across, though haven't checked the fandom in years, so could be other decent ones around.

Yeah, followed this while it was updating. It's fun, albeit a bit cheesy.

 

Ya I know of it. Bit disappointing that every other story is about Kamina/Viral having at it.

 

There's a lot of crossovers but I don't think there's enough of The Gamer's plot laid out to do much by itself.

What I want to read is a good Megamind story. One that has nothing to do with Romance and is just Megamind inventing crap and being a boss.

 

I liked it at first, but then it started completely needlessly flanderizing Sasuke. It's like the author only knows Sasuke from fandom stories where he's bashed. I'm not sure if he ever actually read the manga.
It's like a Democrat is writing a Republican and the only thing he knows about Republicans is from watching the Daily Show.

Naruto's character was also changed completely - he's an OC here. The only thing he shares with canon Naruto is that he loves Ramen.

The Gamer parts of this story are actually really well done and this may be the best integration of those elements I've seen. Still, when I reached the Chuunin Exams, I just couldn't take the Character Exaggeration of Sasuke anymore.

 

It did at that. The start was slow and weaker than the rest.

I have a serious lack of sleep this week, and to top it off, I just had to finish reading what was there. I like the pacing and the style, except that it follows canon path a bit too closely, yet I enjoyed the games to convince the council.

It does have its flaws, but at the same time, I enjoyed the experience very much. Easily 4/5.

I didn't like that the past Shepard died, since it screamed missed opportunities for me, but what can you do.

 

No idea where to put this, but I'm guessing this will do, it's a DnD short story about an Ogre finding a Paladins sword. On reddit of all places.

 

Decent story about a Saito who gets caught up in the DxD plot. Writing isn't bad, no noticeable mistakes.

I've been really enjoying it. Can see where Tasoli is coming from though. Saito's bitterness is way over done, and it starts feeling he's just being a dick for the sake of it.

 

Ya he's a bit of a prick but tbf he probably has like PTSD or something from what Louise did to him.

 

If I'm remembering it correctly, part of the reason it feels forced is he keeps talking about how much he hates Rias and the situation he's in, but in terms of day to day interactions, he seems at ease and comfortable most the time. He talks about those bitter feelings, but they don't seem to consistently match up to his actions.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the whole idea that he's resentful, bitter and angry given he's once again found himself to be a slave (albeit, with a nicer master), but it just felt a bit unnatural at times.

 

Naruto/Dark Souls

The writing is good and I really like the concept. I went in with only passing knowledge of Dark Souls and had no real issues understanding what was happening. So far, my biggest complaint is that it's short.

Frozen/Dresden Files

This crossover works surprisingly well. The author does a rather impressive job of fitting Elsa's magic into Dresden Files rules and I was satisfied with how they seemed to mesh. The interactions between Elsa and Dresden are great, with Elsa's excitement at meeting another who had magic and Harry teaching the ridiculously powerful queen. And at the same time they have to deal with gruesome murders the likes of which Elsa has never seen.

I'll admit I haven't actually finished the Dresden Files series, but Harry seems a little less flippant in this fic than the first half of the series. Regardless, it didn't really weaken the story for me and his serious moments matched the style of canon Dresden's ruminations. The author does occasionally miss line breaks and has a slightly odd style when it comes to dialogue, but for the majority of the fic the writing is sound.

The beginning is a little slow, but I'd say the build up is worth the wait, as I quite enjoyed the interactions between an Elsa who's still coming to terms with the events from the movie and a Harry who's been there, done that, and not quite come out unscathed.

 

As someone who's never seen Frozen, will it be a problem to understand?
