Hmmh, been playing this for the past ~8 hours.

    Some first impressions:

The world is indeed huge. There are a lot of mountains and geographical obstacles, so going in a staright line is impossible. The minimap has minimum detection range, and the world map is kinda vague, sometimes even misleading. Mildly frustrating at times.

Exploration is indeed rewarded. A ton of secrets everywhere, loot everywhere.

Graphics (high on pc) are very good.

The conversation is a mix between DA:O and DA2: there's the wheel, but only occasionally there's an "emotional" response - usually you just pick whichever option you like, like in DA1.

Combat too is a mix between DA:O and DA2. I haven't used tactical mode at all, it feels slow and clunky. It's been pretty average so far tbh, hopefully it picks up after I've got more skills and the specializations to play with. There's a bit too much "hold down button to auto-attack" going on.

Spell effects are pathetic, reminds me of WoW, FF13, FF14. I mean sure they're high graphical and animation quality, but everything is pathetically small! I crave the spells from Dragon's Dogma, lol.

Characters have been fairly interesting. The main plotline is surprisingly interesting. Zone quests have been a mixed bag - some are pretty interesting, but there have been a bunch of "fetch 10 ram meat" ones aswell.

Overall, I'm definitely enjoying the game. Much better than DA2. Maybe a touch below Origins, so far.

Minor complaint: the males get no good haircut and color. It took me 6 characters before I was mildly satisfied...

Here's a interactive video that when you complete it gives you some weapons through Origin apparently, my copy is getting delivered to me so I don't know yet.

I'm showing an ungodly amount of restraint and waiting till Christmas to take a week off and play nonstop.

You poor poor man. It's killing me just to wait until I have to go to my clinic so I can pick up the game up on the way home in about ~4 hours.

I'm addiction prone when it comes to rpgs. I can't really play them in small doses and balance life at the same time. God forbid if a tales or a final fantasy drops in the middle of the year. Goodbye sick days.

Flames of the Inquisition pack is that crappy armor you get in your room after first quest. Not really worth the deluxe edition.

That said....this game is epic. Game of the Year contender for sure. Really loving it.

Has anyone else had a fun time waiting for this game to install? Because I'm at least 5 hours in~.

No seriously, what the fuck. I have 4 discs and I've only used 1 to start the the "autorun". It seems like the discs are useless because Origin wants to download the game instead of using the discs. And I've looked online, I can't find any damn help with this issue.

My game didn't start pre- installing last night either. Annoying/ worrying.

Happened with Destiny too, but I deleted it from my Library and tried again to fix. The way the PS4 is now though, you can't delete games from your library...

It's just...what's the point of having 4 discs if you're only using 1 to start a tiny program? I could've been done hours ago if I could install through the discs. I don't understand why the Hell it shouldn't. Goddamn I hate Origin.

I think it might have something to do with DRM and anti-piracy measures? Dunno.

Huh.. I preloaded from Germany, used VPN to unlock it, and now play without any kind of problems.

I've got the physical deluxe copy, no preload for me. Which is why I don't understand the discs being pretty much useless, the point of having these is so I don't have to download the damn thing. Which is what I'm doing and it is seriously pissing me off.

Just finished the Tutorial Questline. Only played for like 2 hours, but today was long and tiring, so i guess tomorrow will be entirely dedicate to it.

So far, my only gripe is the tiny ass text. I actually need to wear my glasses to make em out.

Getting irrationally angry hearing certain ppl in games media continuously trash DA2 if it were Colonial Marines...

Especially when they admit to never having played it and basing their theories on the ppl who shouted the loudest.

Or when one of their negatives of fantasy RPGs is the 'saving the world' cliche (which DA2 isn't, and also why I liked it so much...)

It doesn't help that they're using ME as some kind of barometer for 'great RPG', a series I did not care for at all...

I get why most people were disappointed with DA2 - it's not a perfect game - but having it be called a 'shit show'

    ...not cool.

So fuck not having auto pick up, and fuck having to hold down the mouse to attack. It feels like I am playing a shitty PC port of an Xbone game.
