You know.... There was a time when the church and god ruled...
    It's called the dark ages...

Now i have just one more thing to say, and that is:

"Behind that innocent face is the power of satanic darkness.
Harry Potter is the devil and he is destroying people."

What in the world? She went from one brainwashing cult that actually stimulates the mind to another that tries to repress the mind?

    Nutters I tell ya...just nutters.

Oh, this is sweat. She is "trying" God. Does that not fall under
    commandment?
Also, I am Christian and I find it greatly offensive that she is describing God almost as an drug. She probably even doesn't understand Ten Commandments and what is Communion.
Yes, I agree that the Roman Catholic Church (and the others - Protestant (the whole movement), Eastern Orthodox Church and others) had it black day's. But they are trying to change. At least give them some credit. They are after all an corporation that exist for almost 2000 years.

Um one thing there is a difference between God and Christianity.

God is just a supreme being, I don't follow any specific religions but I still believe in God.

I kind of like the Agnostic viewpoint in where God is something that we truly can't even understand.

one of the reviews made me laugh, it seems to sum up our feelings, in one severely repressed statement

Quote of the Century right there.

Good luck trying to change that. That is one of the oldest loop holes in the law both in America and Europe.

I would like to point out, in the interest of being fair that there are many other Christian religions out there, that both disagree and agree with many of the Catholic teachings.

Nutters she is, but I don't think HP stimulates the mind too much, its a fun pastime, but Im not earning a degree in British Literature by reading it.

I see your God and raise you a Magical Trevor.
look at him now, disappearing the cow

If she's found a God, who cares? It means she won't be bothering good decent people with her problems and will instead be complaining about them to her church support group which will take her angst like good little Christians. One less emo teen on the Internet, not to mention annoyed clergymen. I think were getting the better side of the deal folks.

She probably hasn't found the god and church we all know and hate but rather one of those damn new age churchs that are designed to brain wash children and loser adults with all their "God Rock" and being happy... it's enough to make me wanna be sick.

Good point with the found God, not Catholicism thing, but it's likely too fine a distinction to make here. I'm betting she needs a new thing to become a mindless slave to after getting bored with HP and, like so many others, has chosen the church. (As far as I know, this doesn't conflict with my earlier post. I'm just a little more calm and level-headed right now than before.)

And they're just as wrong as The Catholics (who refuse to admit their Polytheism). /sarcasm, the Catholic Church owned the shit out of that with their Nicene Creed.

Actually, they're more wrong, because many of them teach that Jesus was 'The SON' of GOD and on an equal power level as him in terms of Godliness. Literally, a system of 2 Gods instead of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit = 3 parts of God).

I'm not going to lecture any Protestants (or Catholics) on the board about their Religion or anything... But if any of you have any amount of hate in your hearts, then you fail: at your Religion; and if you don't believe me, go back and read The First Letter of John, then kindly STFU.

Oops I turned this into a wee bit of a "why Christians fail at life" rant. Wasn't my intention, I swear, but just so we're clear:

Christians ESPECIALLY AMERICAN ONES Fail. At. Life.

EDIT: And for the record, I was born Jewish and raised that way for the first 8 years of my life. Then I was converted (read: I didn't know any better) to Christianity. Then, I became an Atheist after I saw how incredibly ignorant most religious people were about their own Faiths.

Actually the Catholic Church teaches the Trinity. While they believe in Jesus being the Son of God, they believe he sits on "the right hand" of God. If you read their version of the Bible, it shows Jesus asking God for Advice and help, therefor, Jesus does not have as much power as God.

Hmm... America does seem to shoot out some wackos, but Europe started it all.

For the Record, I was raised as a Catholic for 16 years of my life, before I finally grew up and saw the teachings were a bunch of Bull Shit and a lot of the time contradicted each other, and many didn't make sense. I believe the Catholic Church has failed to "grow" with the times. Until they do, I believe they will continue to lose members, and believers.

Pretty sure the Trinity means that the father, son and holy ghost are actually one "being".

None has more power and none came before the other. Sort of like 3 separate things but one thing. weird I don't understand

Been awhile since confirmation but I'm pretty sure thats what it means.

That's because the european nations kicked their religious nutjobs out. Those extremists got on boats and headed west to slaughter the natives. As you can see, we failed on that whole "love thy neighbor" bit early on.

I'm a religious mutt. I was raised Methodist (and support the changes the United Methodist Church has been making in the last five or so years), but when I hit that time in my teenage years when I asked myself what *I* believe that all changed. I started studying as many religions as I could to find something that described me.

I didn't find anything. Instead I decided that I would just compile all the parts of the religions that I agree with. I enjoy some parts of Buddhism and Taoism as guides to living a good life but found them lacking when it comes to the question of what happens after life. The original core of christianity (only those bits actually found in the Bible), gives a nice answer there (the modern vision of hell has very little basis in canon scripture, most of it was introduced in the middle ages). Modern christianity is rather lacking in religious experiences however. Sitting in a pew and sing badly written atonal songs does not make for a religion I can sink my teeth into. So add some shamanism or ritual elements, something to DO to feel involved.

I've been reading he Quaran lately and may eventually incorporate Islamic teachings, but I am cautious. It may not make sense to most people, I can't find anything forbidding it and it kind of works for me.

I like the Catholic arguments that homosexuals are against God. Are not all people made in the image of God?

Yes, they are. But according to Bible the homosexuality is a sin. A great sin in the eyes of God - check the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah - especially this part - Genesis 19, 1-9. In this part the men from Sodom are trying to rape two guest (who are angels by the way) and in so they are violating the laws of hospitality. Even if we know that homosexuality is not an disease or sin, the church (all of them, not only catholics) will not change its point of view on this subject. They are to old, and they work slowly. And besides - they exist for almost 2000 years. They don't care what you have to say (By you I mean normal people from the street).

Incorrect, as you proved you understand by the rest of your post. Should be,
Sodom was condemned by the Angels[who relayed the condemnation to God, unless I misunderstood/misread the canon?] because the entire city tried to violently attack the angels, not because they wanted "the buttsecks".

/Too lazy to link the passages atm.

    But how about Leviticus 18:22?

I thought that was fairly clear. I don't have anything against homosexuality, but don't make claims unless you can back it up.
