Maybe not entire episode, but some parts of it could be recorded twice with different scripts to confuse any "spies" on the set.

I'll be nice and put this in spoilers. Was it disappointing? Yes. Hell yes.

The main disappointment was the lack of discussion between Jane and Red John. No explanations, no loose ends tied up. And how the motherfuck did that guy who frisked Jane miss a goddamn pigeon up his sleeve? How fucking stupid did they have to make Red John actually come forward and accept whatever Jane was going to give him? So many things in this episode were contrived -- especially how RJ knew the list of 7 suspects.

"I'm really a psy-" gimme a fucking break. This just reeks of the writers having no earthly clue as to how RJ could possibly come up with that list of suspects. And Patrick not wanting to know how? Patrick always wants to know how, it's in his nature. It must've been eating him up since RJ sent him that video. To just throw away one of the biggest plot points of the series like that... it's idiotic. The writers really fucked this one up.

God I wish Haffner was Red John. The story could have been so much better. Haffner would have made a MUCH better Red John. Like seriously so much better. Handsome, charming, etc etc. He was also around the CBI much more than McAllister was, a character we interacted with more than McAllister.

If you consider this episode as a finale of just this season's hunt for Red John it's a pretty decent conclusion. But it's a very weak conclusion of previous 5 seasons with all their clues and connections.

And McAllister was a weak choice for Red John. While his actor did a decent job, the character showed only once before and it was impossible for the viewers to deduce who he was before Jane's list which is a big no-no in mystery shows (unless everyone missed a clue or two in 1x02 episode).

Here's an interesting fact, It wasn't decided until middle of season 4 that McAllister is going to be red john, and in the Season 2 finale, when Jane was captured and Red John did that "Tyger, Tyger" thing with the mask on? That was baker. He played both characters in that scene.

So I finally caught up on all the episodes in preparation for Season 7 which started recently. I think I like the FBI setting more than the CBI as well as the new characters over Rigsby and Van Pelt. Atlhough, I think it kinda suffers from not working towards a cool villain like Red John.

The Jane/Libson romance has been a long time coming as well. Are people still watching this or did you lose interest after the Red John stuff was over with.

Also, I guess they are never gonna tell us how he knew about the list? ><.

I lost interest after the shitty Red John episode and the shitty episodes following. It was too big of a disappointment after waiting so long to find out who he was. I'm honestly surprised the show is still going on, I figured it would be canceled pretty fast.

What are you guys talking about? Mentalist ended after Jayne shot Red John point blank in a mall.

    Ah, good times.

    /Nothing happened after that.

Mentalist has been cancelled, I think the next series is just a short one to finish.

Yeah, I stopped somewhere in the middle of the season after that.

It's 13 episodes. Short for the The Mentalist, but a full season for a lot of shows.
