I highly doubt that.

 

It would be highly problematic from a back story point of view. They can't assume people have played KOTOR so they would have to explain all that history as well as developing the present plot. That's far too much baggage to carry while keeping the story moving forward at a good pace.

 

Not to mention that he was dragged into the depths along with the TORtanic.

 

A teaser trailer was quite nice. Apparently the narrator is Andy Serkis doing his best Cumberbatch impression.

Why would the need to explain all of it? As with every character you introduce, new or old, only bring up what is important to the movie and nothing more. The rest of background is optional for the fans. But I doubt Revan will be the villain.

 

Assuming Boyega isn't just impersonating a storm trooper, does the Empire ever open up conscription for the Storm Troopers?

Shouldn't they all be clones?

Oh, and BallDroid is probably the most adorable thing ever. Shares an enemy with Claptrap though...

They stopped using all clones long before the events of the OT.

 

To add on to this. Please remember the accelerated growth. The original clones aged much faster than a normal human. They were all mostly dead of old age by the events of Episode IV.

The Imperial Academy (where luke originally wanted to join) was one of the things used for Storm Trooper conscription if I remember right.

The story would have been a lot different. Luke would have probably ended up as one of the Emperor's Hand's/eventual apprentice should he have gone that route.

According to canon, by the time the original films took place, the original Kamino clones had been reduced to about 1/3 of the Stormtrooper Corps, but they were still very much alive. Their growth accelerated their maturity, not their ultimate lifespan.

Augmenting this were several other lines of clones, and then recruits from the general populace.

As for Luke, I believe he wanted to join the Imperial Navy, which was different.

You could probably argue it's canon on the basis that OT Stormtroopers had different heights and voices, implying that they're not clones. Also the officers in OT definitely aren't clones.

 

1) How the hell would that work? Isn't he dead?
2) That would explain why all the EU is no longer canon, if they didn't want to use his story from KotOR.
3) Why would Revan use that goddamn lightsaber?
4) If it is Revan, how the hell would he be beaten? My knowledge of EU Star Wars is limited to say the least, but isn't he the most powerful Sith of all time, aside from Sidious, who required a bit of a deus ex machina to take out?

But aside from the voice-over, the fact that the worst thing from the trailer was the lightsaber is promising to me. There was nothing else that genuinely made me go WTF.

All in all, I've got to work on that time machine, December 2015 can't come fast enough.
