I just read Out of the Fire and into the Cupboard - a well written oneshot with canon pairings. Ginny being one of the major characters here, I had to try to recall what I knew of her characterization from canon, but I mostly ended up drawing a blank. I didn't have much luck recalling her character voice either. So, what do we know about teenager Ginny's personality and behavior from canon?

Ginny had a sarcastic streak. She liked to do impressions of people to mock them. The twins considered her a kindred spirit. She liked dating black guys. Her talents focused in curses and Quidditch.

Fleur treated her like an infant, which soured her to the woman immediately and long after.

Overall there's a lot to like about her, but somehow most of her behavior faded into the background of Harry's attention.

Like pretty much every non-major character in the Series?

Speaking of Ginny, did Rowling ever say a word about her being the 'first Weasley girl in ages'? Because ignoring the genetic ridiculousness of such a thing, all of the Weasley kids had at least one girl (from Victoire to Lily Luna).

Magic laughs in the face of genetics.

All else being equal, would you rather a story you liked and were actively following updated once a week with a 5K chapter, or once every two weeks with a 10K chapter?

As long as it actually updates somewhat frequently, I prefer longer chapters that are around 10k. That said, I'd rather have an author update at least once a month with a smaller chapter(3k minimum) than waiting two months for a larger chapter so I don't forget the story and lose my 'connection' with the characters and plot.

10K every 2 weeks imo. Although I think the perfect update rate is something like 7k words a week. Then there's stories like God Slaying Blade Works that has fucking 30k chapters every 2 weeks.

Once every two weeks with 10k, I think. You want something substantial that you can settle down with for a while.

Fair enough. I might as well discuss genetics on Game of Thrones while I'm at it.

But seriously, does Canon ever claim Ginny's the first Weasley girl in generations, or is that some weird Fanon thing?

    Probably fanon, I'm guessing.

Canon Plus, actually. JKR states it, but I don't think it's found in canon itself.

Oh, if JKR stated it, then it's most definitely canon.

    Do you have the quote?

remember the weasleys may have had an absence of girls for a few generations but the prewitts probably didnt and ginny was the only girl of 7 children so while its unlikely its not extremely unlikely or impossible

The lexicon has a link to the quote on JKR's website. Unfortunately, the page is no longer there.

If a wizard or a witch is turned into a vampire, do they lose their magic?

Unknown. Barely anything is mentioned about vampires in canon. They're described as magical beings but whether that means they're just created by magic or can wield magic of their is never stated.

I'm pretty sure there are half-vampires in HP though, who could probably use magic.

How can you be sure about that? I'd say vampires mating with humans would be impossible as vampires are basically walking corpses.

It's never confirmed in canon that vampires are actually the traditional reanimated corpse. They could just be humans that were mutated by a curse, similar to werewolves.
