I searched but didn’t find it so here we go...

<o></o> Title: He Did It His Own Way
    Author: Hamm on Wry
    Rating: T
    Genre: Dark/Independant
Pairing: None definite but possible H/Bella
    Status: Work in Progress
Summary: After 15 years of abuse and manipulation, Harry decides to start looking out for 1. Fed Up!Harry HBP ignored!NO Horcruxes.
Link: He Did it His Way <o></o>

Manip-Dumbles, Angry/Dark/Political Harry etc… Harry takes control of his life without the help of letters from beyond, wrossrock shopping trips, or many other clichéd starts. He is super rich, but the Goblins are less helpful than they seem. Great Dursley revenge, slight Hellatrix, nonexistent wonder twins Herman and Ron.
    <o></o>
I’d say 3.5/5 could be better but could also be much worse.

Mate, you might want to go look at the posting regulations, and correct your post.

Ill look at the fic and edit this later to give my opinion.

EDIT: Excellent fic, it goes well into cliche terratory, but it steers around most of them and glosses over the rest.

This is moving at a good clip. It is rare to see dumble fall so fast.
What will happen with Albus, Aberforth and Violet in the long term?
When will we get to the death eaters?
Lets keep this in review for a month and see how often it is updated.

I actually did see a letter from the beyond. Sirius's. I didn't like most of the story. Harry acts too superior and everyone else just cows under him. He's just a punk kid.

Oh, right the will... He was taking charge before that point. All the will did was give a bit of supporting evidence.

I've been following this since chapter 3, I think. I rather liked the start, but getting rid of Dumbledore in 1 easy step was a big letdown for me. Redeeming the Weasleys, Snape and everyone else who could have possibly been on Dumbledore's side didn't help either. Later chapters improved things a bit, but this story still has a long way to go to redeem itself in my book.

Wow... What a complete and utter waste of five minutes. I was struggling after the first paragraph and gave up after he had someone show Dumbledore out. It's pretty shoddy when you look again. I couldn't read this, and I'm not going to try again.

Disgusting. Cookie-cutter. Americanized. Poor vocabulary. A horrible attempt at sounding sophisticated and British. Kill it.

Was it meant to sound British? I may have to change my score if it was.

That was the fastest first chapter I have seen in a long time. Great way of running away and I don't see what the problem with Dumbledore getting escorted out is. The Griphook thing made me throw up in my mouth a bit though. 3.5/5

How does Harry know all this stuff. How does he know "what to look for"

It looks like it, he's trying to use big words that sound like Britishisms, but aren't. Maybe i'll look through again to find an example...

I followed this fic for a while but lost my interest when he got rid of Dumbledore and took his seat as Lord Potter-Black. The sudden change from a sixteen year old teenager to a smart politician makes me laugh everytime I read it.

And the following idea is ridiculous:
Harry gets a driving licence by Gringotts and learns to drive within some minutes. Anyone out here who managed the same?

Didn't we have a conversation about driving licences? I guess this was what spurred it on.

As for the fic: The first paragraph were hell to read. The typical, angst-filled stay at Number Four, oppressive Order and relatives... urgh. Not to mention the following things, Dumbledore stealing from his vaults, the Black inheritance...

On the upside, there are several original turns and addendums, not in the early parts, but later on.

I agree that Harry is becoming too powerful and too cunning too fast. I didn't read it in its entirety, but it seems to be decent enough for a 'guilty pleasure'. 3-3.5/5.

Ah, yeah, found it. Well ... that thread degenerated into a transatlantic bashing.

That's ok for nearly all stories out there. Especially as there aren't enough good ones. Hell, I once followed even a story of DebsThe...

Upon his brother's incarceration, Aberforth Dumbledore goes completely mad and convinces his great granddaughter to come along for the ride. Together they vow to destroy Harry.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Black thinks that Harry, who she screamed at earlier, has turned over a new leaf and is the bee's knees just because he can yell at her in Parseltongue.

Somehow, I can't really see that happening.

It started slow, got a bit of interesting steam, that sputtered to a very cliched and ridiculous halt. I first was going to give it 3/5, and to be honest, the idea of subverting Mrs. Black and Kreacher, if improbable, is a fairly original idea. However, the story got nuts and boring - and additionally, the writing got significantly more convoluted in later chapters.

    Sorry, but not a recommendation.

I enjoyed it well enough. Some of the things other people saying are true enough, but there is much good with the bad in the story. I didn't like the last chapter to much however, for he semms less dark then previously, for no reason whats so ever.

Aberforth's reason to destroy Harry seemed to be over the top a little, and he does seem senile, but hopefully that will be resolved later on.

I think I'll give it a 3/5. Its good, and it was enjoyable to read, but there are a few details that seem to be way over the top, as in joining Mrs. Black and Mr. Blacks portraits.

I like the story very much. 4/5. I recommend reading this fic, even if there are bad things in the story, the good parts make up for it.

I'm going to be unpopular when I say this but I gave it a 5/5.

It may have started a bit cliched and there were a few bits in the early beginning that caused me to hiccup and threw me off my reading momentarily, but the original twists on the standard plot is what makes this one stand out. I'm especially enjoying the way the other branch of the Dumbledores are behaving.

The most interesting factor for me in this is the blurred edges created by the different characters having their own agendas. We aren't given to know where Jonathan really comes down on things. We don't know where the loyalty of the Goblins really lies at in the story. Ambiguity in this sense is good.

I'm looking forward to watching this one continue to play out.

PS: That said given the quality of the later writing compared to the earlier chapters I hope the author writes the story as they see fit, and then later goes back and reworks things to fit more coherently and brit-picked, etc but only after the fic is finished!
