I'm having very specific cravings.

To all peeps who know Skitterleap: do you know of any other fics that feature some kind of European empire? I wouldn't mind if it had political themes, or war. Harry-centric would be nice, but it's not an absolute requirement. The King/Emperor/whatever doesn't need to be old Grindy, I'm pretty flexible when it comes to overlords. And something completed, or at least abandoned far enough down the line that you can still enjoy it.

 

Fawkes... The name escapes me right now, but there's one that's almost just like what you're describing, and I really would like to read it now, too.

The Brits and the French are at war, magic is a public thing, and one or the other has quite a hold on the continent, can't remember who though.

James Potter and Lucius Malfoy are on opposite sides, and I think they're bitter rivals on the battlefield, which extends to their sons. The large drawback is that Muggle-ish tech was quite prominent (nowhere near as much as Emperor though) and, of course, it's not as good as Skitterleap. Ring any bells?

Your new thread just reminded me of an abandoned fic I forgot the name of, by the way. It's set in a medieval fantasy; Muggles are downtrodden, but a few of them are lucky enough to make a decent living, like Vernon. He's a miner or smith or something, and Dudley is his apprentice. Harry, meanwhile, cleans the stables, until Hagrid comes to tell him the whole 'yer a wizard' spiel.

He rides a horse somewhere, gets chased and uses accidental lightning magic or something. Would love to read that again for the nostalgia... think I found it here, actually.

 

Did anyone ever write a good Fic where either the Statute of Secrecy never existed or is broken at some point? Assuming it doesn't just assume one is better than the other and/or they quickly start World War Three, I feel like it could make for an entertaining story.

Emperor has some serious problems though. I would recommend the Dark Wars series by the same author, Marquis Black. It's not without its own faults, but there are less OCs running around and it's finished.

 

What was that one fic that had Harry travel back in time, just in time to save Ariana Dumbledore from the local muggle kids do too much damage by harassing her? And then he gets taken in by her family.

It's rife with Manipulative Dumbledore, Bashing the entire Wizarding World (except for those who support the Empire, of course), Wanking the Muggle World (which is especially ridiculous since they are armed with muskets), rewriting how Magic works to make muskets a legitimate weapon against wizards (a few good spells a minute? Come on.), making Harry a Lieutenant Colonel at 16, and a good amount of OCs I couldn't care less about.

The only real things I give the Story credit for is Wanking Britain instead of the US, and not Bashing Ginny (even if I call it insane those two are married at such a young age).

 

There's a thread somewhere on here that's just stoner!Harry fics. YMMV, but I can assure that all of them are much funnier while under the influence of something.

 

That was pretty awful. For a fic that's supposed to be funny, Harry takes himself way to seriously.

Well, I don't know how desperate you are but there's this:

Harry Potter and the Mirror of Paradox

Basically, Harry enters a mirror into an AU, where his counterpart died as a baby along with his parents. Yada, yada, yada, he becomes a death eater and a spy for Dumbledore. Voldemort is the dark lord of europe. He isn't too crazy.

Bad stuff: Harry/Snape slash. Dont remember how graphic, since I skipped all the scenes with them. Also it's kind of dated [written in 2003], however the number of dimension travelling stories at that time was only slightly above zero.

There's an interesting OC in the story by the name of Sahar Lestrange - V's and Bella's daughter. I remember pestering the author to drop the slash and ship Harry/Sahar, but, unfortunately she didn't listen.

 

After reading Naruto: Knight of the Sun, I'm having a craving for Dark Souls crossovers. Any good fics out there people would recommend?
