Just read Harry Potter and Blazin Goblet (long story), and I was wondering if there's any good fics of Harry and Cedric just being bros?

 

The FSN/Dark Souls one is pretty good as well. It's over 100k words as well iirc.

 

Are there any fics out there that feature a well-written three-way romance? I don't even care with whom; it could be Harry/Ginny/Pansy. I guess I'd put down the stipulation that it's Harry/girl/girl, but that's it. I've tried out a fair number of these, but every single one I've read has been either:

1) Harry "soul bonds" with 2+ girls, which happens to fix every single problem he has (the Ministry recognizes soul bonds as immutable law, Harry is immediately emancipated and rich and he has a telepathic link with the girls and knows Occulmancy and EVERYTHING SUNNY ALL THE TIME ALWAYS.

or, 2) Some sort of janky marriage law/harem fic without an actual plot, where the girls might as well be cardboard cutouts for all the personality they have.

or 3), pure smut. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Heart and Soul gave it an honest try, but holy god did that author need an editor. He subscribed to the Robert Jordan School of Prose, and had all of Jordan's ham-fisted, clunky relationship writing skills. Plus, it had a marriage contract.

Is there any fic out there where Harry naturally develops a relationship with multiple partners just because he wants to, and they want to, and not because of magic or laws or anyone else thinking it's a good idea? Where he does it haltingly, with missteps and messiness and the whole thing is complicated and beautiful and funny and well-written?

 

Draco664 wrote a decent Harry/Hermione/femBlaise. It can be found on fanficauthors.net. First in the series is called Apprentice Potter, I think. Rather well written.

 

Apprentice Potter, Journeyman Potter and I-forget-the-third-one Potter. Was a trilogy, and I'm not sure if the third was ever finished. Have to hunt it down for a re-read.

 

Unspeakable Things by Darth Marrs features Harry/Ginny/Luna. The romance is meh, but the overall story is quite decent.

A Mother-In-Law's Love by Perspicacity is amusing, if not exactly what you're looking for. A time-travelling Harry loves Ginny and is married to her in the future. He accidentally soul bonds to Molly in the present.

Joe's Wastelands of Time has both Harry/Fleur and Harry/Tonks, but it is hardly Harry/Fleur/Tonks.

Sesc's Unatoned has Harry/Daphne, Harry/Astoria and Daphne/Astoria, although not quite Harry/Daphne/Astoria. It is a very good story that you should read nonetheless.

There are also lower quality fics like Trouble and The Cult Of Dionysus. Trouble is Harry/Ginny/Daphne. It is the basically the inferior version of The Thief of Hogwarts (which has a Harry/Fleur/Hermione/Tonks not-quite-romance), with the addition of overly manipulative Dumbledore. I don't remember much about the Cult Of Dionysus, except that it Harry/Su Li/Hermione, and that Harry is almost a squib.

If you're that desperate you can try The Potter Family Chronicles which has Harry/Daphne/Tracey. I wouldn't recommend it though.

 

It's Harry/Daphne/Tracey and Harry/Daughter #1/Daughter #2 and there is a chance of adding Astoria to it.

Sweet, almost fairytale-like story about Harry Hermione and Luna healing from the war by finding each other.

 

Started this today. I have mixed feelings. Harry's constant rants against the phonies of the wizarding world, Holden Caulfield-style, are a pretty big turn-off. And Tonks, of all people, calling Harry "Pup" is reliably annoying. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel, here?

 

I know I already posted about the "Breaking the Statute" thing, but is Marquis Black really the only one who attempted to write a Story where the Statute of Secrecy is broken/doesn't exist? Because those stories were just terrible.

 

Honestly can't remember. I do remember enjoying it, but that was what, 2-3 years ago. Maybe it hasn't aged very well.

Mmm, I think so. The last part of the trilogy features some innovative horcrux hunting, including Harry breaking into the Vatican.

As for the rant thing... keep in mind this was started just after OttP was released. The emotional ending plus Harry destroying Dumbledore's office lead to the creation of the angry!Harry trope - up until then it was nowhere to be found. This story is thus more of a trope starter than a trope user.

 

I'd say keep reading. He doesn't go full moral superiority on anyone and doesn't try to dispense wisdom on people decades his senior, so I was always able to ignore the worst of it. The meat of the story is genuinely interesting, too, and still fairly unique to this day.

I'd like to find a good story set in the modern era. It could be post-Hogwarts, which is really the only way I can imagine it. Computers, cell phones, Internet mixing with magic, a duel on a jet liner, a battle in the middle of Muggle London... anything really.
