Well damn. Oh well, odds are I'll still be around in ten years, so who knows, maybe you will write it and I'll get to read it.

Maybe if inspiration strikes about the "STUFF HAPPENS" part I would consider writing it sooner XD

The fic is also tricky technically because of the time frame. Either you start in medias res and slowly uncover the back story, in which case Harry will probably appear completely OOC and Gary Stu, or you do it chronologically and have to cover 40 years of events before you even get to the central conflict. Even if you do those 40 years Santi-montage style, it's still going to be tens of thousands of words.

I've had the thought for a while of Harry who lands in Middle Earth without a wand stealing Smaug's heart to make a wand from.

    I don't like that.

I have the same issue with Dresden crossovers or any other crossovers where Harry is left without a wand.

I remember someone saying that "well you have to take away his wand, otherwise he would be too OP".

I know, that's the entire point of Potterverse wizards, they're powerful.

Harry's grand-father from his father's side fought in the war against Grindelwald and found or stole his gold. The big-ass fortune (before that, they had only more or less moderate amounts. The Weasleys, too, but because of this asshole second cousin of Molly, they mostly lost it and this is why they won't talk to him anymore. He also fled the Wizarding World, fearing revenge of either the Weasleys or someone else, that's why they say, he isn't a wizard) of the Potters comes from Wizard Nazi Gold.

Molly was a Prewitt, so why would her second cousin cause the Weasley's to lose their fortune?

If I had a thumbs up left, I'd give it to you. I actually laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of that mental picture.

I apologize for the slight derailment, but wait, do we really have a limited number of thumbs up? Do they count for anything? Do they mean anything? I looked around in the Announcements and Forum Rules threads and didn't see anything. I just assumed they were purely aesthetic.

Your limit per day is five. They don't mean anything other than to show your appreciation of a post.

In the first task of the Triwizard Tournament, Harry kills the dragon with either the Killing Curse or a muggle assault rifle or submachine gun as a deliberate "fuck you" to the pureblood supremacists.

Why would the pureblood supremacists give a shit about a non-human getting killed?

All it would do is push people to the pureblood side making them think muggles are a threat to wizards and must be controlled.

Or to the opposite side to have them as allies rather than enemies and benefit from any other useful technology.

Unless you have a large media campaign pointing out how most muggles no longer believing burning people at the stake they'll assume the worst and assume that muggles still want to kill them for having magic.

I can already tell that this is going to turn into a Wizards vs Muggles debate and I'm advising everyone to stop.

Unless someone's gonna run another media campaign, praising how muggle science could be combined with magic (it has been done before, e.g. Wizarding Wireless and the Hogwarts Express) to benefit society and how the muggles would regard the wizards as somewhat as superheroes, if they spin it right.

That could be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You know, I want to tell you how wrong you are about this, but I'm not going to let you bait me into a pointless argument about this shit. It's been beaten to death. Please stop. Pic related: [IMG]
