Kitsune

 

While Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox, foxes in Japanese Mythology are portrayed as being very wise sentient creatures capable of transforming into humans or near humans and living hundreds of years. I'm not exactly sure, but going by there being a dozen HP fanfics where Harry saves a Kitsune and the Kitsune is indebted to Harry by the action I figured that also plays a part of the Mythology.

Anyway, I have no idea how it could be used let alone in a decent way, but the idea piqued my interest.

I'm looking for a story I read quite a while ago. The premise is post-Hogwarts, Harry is head Auror, married to Ginny. Hermione is married to Ron and working for the DMLE. Harry is trying to protect Hermione from anti-muggleborn backlash and the two begin to develop feelings for one another.

I think I found it here on DLP, but in a link inside a thread, not in it's own thread. Is on FFN.

Oh hell no. I went through the first two years of that story, and I couldn't stand it. Among other problems, that story has classic Ron-Bashing, where he's a bigoted idiot in Slytherin and Draco's lackey, whose reasonably good siblings stand out in stark contrast to him. I heard he's supposed to get better, but I just don't see how that moron can possibly improve short of either heavy-duty BackTracking or the Author writing even more stuff that takes even longer to get to in a Fic already super-bloated.

Mirror, Mirror, on the other hand, now that was a good story. A shame it was abandoned.

 

For you to not see the possibility only requires that the author have a better imagination than you. Rest assured, Ron's character becomes considerably more interesting, if not necessarily more sympathetic.

 

Prince of the Dark Kingdom had no more Ron bashing than canon had Draco bashing. Their initial roles were similar - to give Harry his token school rival who he can can beat. Ron's character in PotDK develops nicely later on in the story, much better than canon Malfoy in fact.

 

Again, if I have to wait that long to read how the stupid, bigoted, arrogant bastard that is Dark Kingdon's Ron Weasley in a Fic notoriously bloated, then I see something wrong with the Author and the writing

Also, it drives me crazy that the Author seemed to go out of his/her way to keep Harry friends with Ginny and the Twins, who are all left perfectly fine and likeable. That only reminds me how the Author really tried hard to turn Ron into an asshole. There is literally no reason to do so. Draco's already around to serve as the rival.

The only reason I could think of why Ron would be treated as such was to help make sure Harry and Hermione could immediately be Super-BFFs and eventually become the One True Pairing. But surely such a 'beloved' Fic as Dark Kingdom would never go to such levels.

 

Uh... in fact, very little of what you described is an accurate representation of what the story is like. Ginny plays practically no role later in the story, the twins play a minor but believable role around year 6, and so far there's been no implication of H/Hr as a pairing. You're certainly welcome to form your own impressions of the story based on the first couple years, but don't be surprised when none of it turns out to be true.

The reasons for Ron's behavior are revealed later on and are fairly believable, too.

Look, I hate pointless bashing as much as anybody (probably more than most people, in fact), but the author is very careful to have her characters act in ways that realistically correspond to their circumstances.

 

Ironically, PotDK ended up with a Ron/Hermione side pairing. Your argument is invalid.

Speaking of PotDK, any idea when the story will update?

 

You know, I'm really starting to think Dark Kingdom starts out as a pretty bad Fic, but eventually improves.

That would be fine, except its insane length and the vague promise that it gets better doesn't really encourage me to read it through.

 

It doesn't really get better - people always say that the story get's better later on, but I really think that the story is just so freaking long that people start to forget (or forgive) a lot of the early crap, or they've gone through so much crap that they've kind of been indoctrinated to it, and have invested too much into it to give it up. The story really is kind of 'meh' throughout, and you really have to justify yourself if some of the cringeworthy parts are worth slogging through to reach a few paragraphs that are somewhat interesting. It's really not worth it, unless you're incredibly bored.

 

If there are such stories, they'd be probably Naruto crossovers, with all that Elemental Chakra stuff.

There are already tons of fics out there, where Naruto shags a continently female Kurama (resp. Kurama takes on a female avatar to shag him), so why not?

Are there any fic's where Harry is a force of nature? As in the protagonist is someone besides Harry, or his direct circle. Someone that has to deal with Harry's impact on the world without having any say on his actions.

 

I can honestly say that I didn't unterstand anything from this. Would you be so kind and elaborate?

 

He means a fic where Harry is a background figure, either set in Hogwarts or (more likely) post-Hogwarts. We thus see the wizarding world through the eyes of a character of less influence/importance and get their perspective on Harry, who is this kind of legendary figure who always seems to be at the centre of dramatic and significant events.
