    Some other PWPs/Smut-based fics:

    1. Across the Mirror (Harry/Fem Harry)
Harry is alone in the world. In his Sixth Year, waking from nightmares, he finds comfort in the only person he could ever trust...himself. HarryGirl!Self NOT Slash.

    2. Polyjuice, Memory Charms and More (Harry/Ginny)
A compilation of Harry/Ginny smutfics by Deadwoodpecker, author of the Backwards with a Purpose trilogy. Very well written. The first one involving Polyjuice potion is awesome.

    3. A Boy and His Cloak (Harry/Hermione)
Late one night at Grimmauld Place, Harry accidentally stumbles upon Hermione in a very compromising situation. What's a boy under an invisibility cloak to do? Smutty H/Hr Oneshot. Warning: Not for younger audiences.

    4. Tease (Harry/Mystery Girl)
After Quidditch practice, Harry receives some unexpected attention. 5th Year AU! PWP SMUT/MYSTERY. NON-CONSENT! FEMME—DOM!

    5. When Vanilla isn't so Vanilla (Harry/Padma)
Harry and his wife, Padma, playfully argue over ice cream. Fluffy plot-less smut fic. Contains pregnancy and food play. One-shot.

    6. Finding the Nerve (Harry/Ginny)
It takes nerve to play professional Quidditch. It takes even more to tell your mother and brothers that you're leaving home to live in sin with your boyfriend. Harry/Ginny with mentions of other pairings. M for a reason.

    7. Evading capture (Harry/Pansy)
Auror Potter has spent the last four years of chasing seasoned criminal Pansy Parkinson. His obsession with her has nearly ruined his life and career. But when he finally catches up with her, she's not going to come willingly. WARNING: SERIOUS DUBCON

    8. Breaking Up is hard to do (Ginny/Teddy)
Breaking up with Teddy Lupin should be easy. Ginny thinks you should try it if you think it's so easy!
The ending of this one is hilarious.

That seems to be all I can remember for now. Anyone know any good Harry/Tonks smut fics? It is one of my preferred pairings and I can't remember reading any smut fics of that pairing. Also, any Harry/FemHarry, Harry/Cho or Harry/Ginny PWPs will be welcome.

If it doesn't end with a flaying of either Ginny or Teddy, I'd be rather disappointed.

Back from a trip today, and saw responses to my last post. My goal with this post is not to convince anyone of my perspective - its merely to point out the basis for that perspective. Quite frankly - you may not care. So feel free to skip it, if so inclined.

Not really. Hermione's major change by 17 (grossly simplified) is that she has two friends instead of none. Personality wise, I don't really see a major shift; I also know it is extremely difficult to change someone's personality. You can get people to change behaviours - which in itself is MUCH more difficult than one would assume - but fundamental shifts in personality are extremely rare.

My opinion is based on my experiences mostly around assessing high potentials, from college level to C-Level management; including people who are highly intelligent, slightly socially awkward, and fanatical about processes/rules/procedures/laws - they have rarely made good managers. (And in case people are wondering how someone can be fanatical about laws: in business, it's not as simple as whether something is legal or not - its whether it can, in fact, be done legally. Spending a weekend watching a bond mathematician with a J.D. run circles around legal, regulatory and tax teams from 8 different countries will prove that to you).

I've also worked with Columbia University and New York University on exactly this topic (behavioural change) as part of a corporate leadership and management development program, specifically targeting high potentials within a Fortune 100 company, as well as a part of a regional management and operations team in our Asia Pacific region where we ran a test case to measure whether professional development (not technical or business knowledge) could actually create measurable change in behaviour. Those findings were inconclusive. Most assumed that was because the outside consultants we worked with were in the business of professional development, and suggesting it didn't work would directly impact their bottom line. While not a provable assumption, the inconclusive result was nearly as damning.

One thing I did prove, though, was that it was possible to identify characteristic traits in people more cost effectively than developing character in people. HR took the basis of that model and put it at the core of our global recruitment model.

That's a very long winded response, I realize - and definitely seems more involved than the reality of my overall impression - but it's background to where my difficulty in believing Hermione capable of that sort of role comes from. She just doesn't tick the boxes for me on a lot of the core competencies for leadership (not specifically for my former company but overall) - other than being smart. Effectively developing her skill in the competencies she misses (given the amount) seems improbable.

To sum it up, I don't think I'm discounting her maturity. I may, however, be discounting her ability to change.

I have a different perspective. In OotP, Hermione actually states that she and Ron had been sounding out people, and then later that "they want to hear what you've got to say". That's seems more "trading on Harry's name", than "using her social circle" to me - not in a manipulative way, but in a 'garnering interest' way.

Overall, I don't really consider any of them particularly socially adept - but I would actually rate Ron higher than both Hermione & Harry. He at least has seemed to build some sort of rapport with his Gryffindor peers (Seamus & Dean for example). Harry has some measure of social experience with Quidditch (admittedly not substantive); Hermione, in contrast, has made little effort within her own house.

Canon - as in the actual books - says nothing about Hermione's career. I honestly don't follow whatever Rowling has said in subsequent interviews (there's no 'SLASH' warning for the Dumbledore pairing, so he clearly ISN'T gay); the only thing I've seen since is Hermione referenced as Deputy Head of the DMLE, which I still consider absurd.

I used "stupid" to describe the spoiler - your character choosing to do the exact same thing as the first time, but expecting a different result, seems a "stupid" premise to me.

If I say "I consider this... " or "I feel this way... ", no one can say "no, you don't" or "don't make stuff up" to that.

    No one.

It is extremely condescending to assume that you can tell someone "no, you actually don't consider that' or 'no, that's not how you really feel" - you are essentially saying "I know your mind better than you do". By telling me to 'stop making stuff up', I was being told the same thing - especially as I didn't actually make anything up.

I don't believe anything I responded with equates to that. People might not like how I said it, but there is a difference.

On a separate topic, Midnight Blues updated recently. The latest chapter is, frankly, a goddamn riot. Funny, dramatic, and probably library worthy. It's an easy and enjoyable read, the writing is good if not stellar, the dialog is fantastic.

Honestly it's just incredibly fun. I can't ask for much more than that.

Your experience in business and at university doesn't really make your opinion any more valid since the research you didn't provide a source for was 'inconclusive.' It just seems like one big appeal to authority without making any 'real' argument aside from reasserting your opinion. To be frank I honestly couldn't care less about your work. No offence.
There's also a pretty big difference between how much and how quickly adult and children change. As children mature, they generally develop new personality traits and discard old ones at a far faster rate than adults. We must also take into account the traumatic and challenging circumstances Hermione was involved in throughout her school years. Wars and traumatic events have a way of changing people and their perspectives.
In regards to Hermione lacking friends, I think it's highly likely that she has more friends that Harry and Ron but we don't really see their interaction with her unless Harry is also involved because, surprise, Harry is the protagonist of the series! There's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that we don't hear about.

The latest chapter downed the rating for me. Looks like it will be turning into a cowboy wizard fanfic. Let us all insert our wands into specialised guns and shoot spells out of them, not only are they faster but more powerful too! Anyone using wands are now basically redundant in magical combat, unless in wide open spaces. I would of thought the opposite.

Also for a never before seen invention everyone sure has gotten a hold of them real quick.

Overall a great fic, but the mugglisation of magic turned me off. A purely personal preference that other people probably won't care about. The quality is top-notch, unquestioned, I just don't like where the author has taken their combat.

God's I forgot all about this site. Shame it 'went under' a few years ago, but at least the archives are still alive.

IMO, best of the bunch on RS would be Harry Potter and the Secret of the Golden Unicorn by Lord Wrackspurt. It's pretty old, it hits hard with the Ron bashing, Harry is Merlin's last living decendent who happens to be the only one capable of wielding Excalibur, and there's a dick growing potion. It's really, really dumb, but if you're looking for dumb pulp entertainment then you could do worse.

If it keeps up until the next chapter I'll agree with you, but I get the sense that it's just a one of gadget sort of thing.

I don't really have a problem with the mugglization of magic, but do agree that some of the stuff in the latest chapter is kinda dumb. Harry's a cowboy, yeah, but the author actually pulls it off well compared to literally every other example I can think of. Even if it isn't particularly canon complient (what the shit google that's a word), it does what it does well.

Personally I'd give it a 4/5, edging towards a 4.5 simply because I really enjoy the characters, but I'm a sucker for that sorta stuff. More seriously I think it probably deserves a rating around 3-3.5, but the upper sort of 3.5, y'know?

I remember a Harry/Pansy story. It was set after school, with Voldemort dead. Some major volcano erupted somewhere and Hermione quickly concluded that it was the end of the world. Everyone pulled together to save the Wizarding World and moved to Antarctica. Don't know what the story was called, though, but the plot at least was fairly original.

Yep, that's the one. I'm not sure if it was good or not, but I remembered it for the interesting idea of "apocalypse, let's go hide in Antarctica".

    You missed my point completely.

I consider it absurd when authors try to paint someone like Hermione in a role where she is Head of the DMLE or Head of the DoM or Minister - for exactly the reasons that I outlined.

I'm not making any "appeal to authority" or whatever you are talking about. It is my opinion, and as I stated: I was pointing out the basis for my opinion. There is no "research that I didn't provide a source for" - its a culmination of work I did for a Fortune 100 firm. Some was from an internal project (done with Columbia & NYU) regarding the leadership and management development for identified "high potential" employees; more was from work I did for our Asia Pacific business. All of that work is proprietary; even though I no longer work there, I can't even publish articles without the approval of their Office of General Counsel, as per the terms of my employment contract, if it is based on that time of my life.

With respect to that opinion - I don't really care if you agree or not. You're entitled to think whatever you want. My issue was being told, in essence: "That's not what you really think".

Yes, there is a big difference in the rate of behavioural change in adults and children. However, most of those changes for Hermione would have occurred by the time Deathly Hallows (excepting the epilogue) finished. Teens don't stack up the changes and then suddenly they appear at adulthood- its an evolution. By the time people enter university, the rate of change (and the capacity for change) has slowed significantly; also, any changes from childhood would already be evident. In Hermione's case, those changes would be evident throughout the seven books. To paraphrase one professor I worked with - "by 18, they're fully baked". To that end, I already took into account the traumatic and challenging circumstances Hermione was involved in throughout her school years.

Again - you don't have to agree with me. Just clarifying what I took into consideration.

At one chapter, I just did a quick skim. The last section was the only part I actually read, per se. And it did leave me laughing at the second to last sentence. :p

This fic. This fic right here is the lulz.
It could have been a great plot for a HP-SteamPunk fic ...
But I know its going down, ahem, a less appreciable route. XD

Everyone who has read the number of Muggles Vs Wizard threads that pop up now and then should at least finish the first chapter. XD

More smut, some of the best have already been mentioned.
    Bookworm
Everyone knows Hermione is a bookworm. But just focused /is/ she on her reading? Harry shows up to interrupt her reading with questions on the female body, and perhaps takes things too far... (Harmony, romance/humour/crack)
    Practice makes perfect
It was an idea only Hermione could come up with. Set during HBP. (on Restricted Section)

A bit of Hermione/Pansy, for some reason I find it an entertaining pairing, becomes slightly sappy, but fun smut otherwise, the author only writes shorter femslash stories, but there's a lot of them... and I mean a lot.
    Darling Pansy
Hermione witnesses Pansy in a private moment and has a very unexpected response to it
    Beautiful Day
Hermione and Pansy's adventures in the Slytherin prefect bathroom
    Absolute Gravity
Hermione and Pansy’s relationship continues to grow

Huh, these actually aren't half bad.

I'd probably like them all more if I weren't keenly aware that I'm reading Harry Potter erotica, but still. It's not half bad erotica.

I dunno, YMMV. I just read the first one - Bookworm - but I found the idea of Hermione being too distracted by her book to notice Harry feeling her up, then having sex with her a little too creepy to get into a place where I could find it funny.
