And again we have the problem of people confusing Fanon with Canon. Nowhere in Canon do squibs resist anti-muggle charms or use magical items. We have only ever seen Filch and Figg. Mrs Figg cannot see Dementors (as is implied in OOTP during the trial, she becomes nervous and cannot accurately describe them), and the only magical item Filch has used is Mrs Skowers Magical Mess Cleaner - which appears to be some sort of pre-prepared cleansing potion. Nowhere is it mentioned in Canon that squibs have magic, they are described in the books as "non-magical people born to magical parents".

Does it really matter whether all wizards have the same amount of power, just less ability to use it or all wizards have different power levels? The bottom line (magical output) is the same.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of this thread to discuss the nature of magical power? So obviously would that mean it does matter, making your post either a direct contradiction of common sense or you're trying to prove some non-existant point that is obscured somewhere in that 2 sentence post.
Why'd you bother posting that anyway?

BTW all magical output is not the same.

There is a disagreement on whether:

Wizards all have the same potential, but they cannot access magic equally

    Or,

Wizards do not have the same potential, certain wizards have more magic than others.

I'm saying that it doesn't matter whether you can only use a fraction of the same potential everyone has or all of your own individual power because they can be made the same by the author.

Say I want my super!Harry to have the power to level mountains. I can either have that power available to everyone, but have only Harry be able to access it, or I can set my story so that only he has that power.

Oh I understand what you're saying now. Sorry about that. I'm not sure if that would apply to here though. Sure you can make a fic with either in it, but I think this is about cannon magical power.

The very fact Filch works at Hogwarts implies that he can pass through the Anti-Muggle wards. That means he has some magic, or some small ability to use it, rather than just "He has it or doesn't have it."

Like I said, the logic you're using doesn't work.

I'm sure Dumbledore could have let him in. And maybe squibs are magic but they just can't use it.

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
Then that would imply a sort of block on a magical core, which we pretty much established they don't have. Squibs probably have access to magic, but there control isn't refined over it and they can't use it.

Even accidental magic implies that they have at least some meausure of control, it comes to kids when they are highly emotional. Also, they thought Neville was a squib. Why? Because he hadn't yet shown accidental magic.

Nobody seems to of made the argument that magical ability might be genetic. Why else would purebloods put so much emphasis on "pure" aka magical blood? Perhaps there is something to it.

I mentioned it a while back, but nobody else picked it up.

I would've liked to read a story in which BLOOD ACTUALLY MATTERS. meaning that the magic, gets better with

This new idea would work far better if wizards channelled outside magic, rather than actively used their own, and the tiredness from patronus can be explained as channeling too much energy. Bloody purity is neccessary here for the pure-bloods have most homogene reccesive genes, for good and bad. (good as in good traits that are reccessive, bad as in dieases) This theory sits with the new magical look far better than the current one (magic resides in person)
