The rules seem to imply the commital happens in the thread as soon as mods see it and we only get the flip at the end of the Day.

 

@Ter no use in worrying about what you can't control. I hope Riddler guesses all of the scum roles. I say we keep fighting the good fight and scum will fall.

Titus, we are postualting possibilities. I don't know what investigators etc will do so. And also I would think that if we made a list of 4-6 most likely people who need to be checked then investigators could take the middle and booster the top two or reverse it.
