How about having it use a single, named character as the basis for an otherwise original work? How about giving it a character that doesn't have any other characterisation other than a name?

I would just have it make Harry/daphne fics that don't involve the typical romance shortcuts like marraige contracts or their parents being best friends.

Also, Harry/Fleur fics that don't suck and take place during canon.

Hell, it would be great if that were to update. That fan fiction machine would be working to complete existing, unfinished, stories for me as often as it would be writing new stuff.

Isn't that just always the way it goes. Never fails...

 

I have always wanted to read an apocalypse fic in which the Wizarding world faces a common threat, something that forces Dumbledore, Voldemort and Harry to work together, even though they despise each other. The common threat could be anything ranging from the Muggle Governments (who have been secretly working together for a long time and built technology to resist memory wipes, imperius or general magic nullifying fields) to powerful Outsiders or Demons (somewhat similar to Turn Me Loose). I don't think I've ever read a story where Voldemort and Dumbledore have to work together- it could be fascinating.

The Lie I've Lived is the only story which characterizes Fleur really well. Most Harry-Fleur fics completely ignore the overly bitchy part of her personality. I have hope that the newest Harry-Fleur story (and there have been too many of those lately) What You Leave Behind) would not disappoint in that regard.

I've always wanted to read a Dark!fem!Harry story ever since Equal and Opposite came out. But we don't have enough quality fem!Harry stories, let alone dark ones.

 

I know I've said this a lot about that fic, but it's really only Harry in name (the story is closer to James Potter/Fleur), so essentially it's just using a shortcut to get the two together. And for the record, I don't consider the fic good.

So, I guess I would add Harry/Tonks to the list as well, so I'd have a machine that won't use shortcuts like making Tonks Harry's age. Luckily there has actually been a few readable fics like this lately.

We'd find an arrangement. Look at the Luxembourg-Leaks. Everything is possible with enough creative-semi-legal energy.

 

Yeah, I was thinking to myself just the other day about the illegality of being employed by someone to write fanfiction for them, and while I certainly don't know any of the legalese of such a thing, I'd say you'd be alright as long as you and the "employer" don't spread the fanfiction around to others with similar requirements for money. If someone offered you a million dollars (or thousands, or hundreds for fucks sake) to write the exact fanfic they want, I don't see how you could rightly turn that down (or how the author of the original work could steal that out of your pocket).

In reality, however, if someone had the money to employ someone to write fanfiction, they would just employ that person to write something original so that every one can read it.

EDIT: Anyway, regarding the original post, if I had a fanfiction machine, I would hit all these settings:

1. 100,000 to 200,000 words. Anything more would be overkill unless its a seven year fic.
2. After 4th year.
3. Sadistic!Voldemort. Mind-raping a fourteen year old is pretty bad, but nothing like sacrificing seven Potters for each of the twelve days of Christmas or Voldemort bringing Harry's mother back to life to use as a meatshield.
4. Dial down the Independent!Harry. Ron and Hermione need to back him up. Sirius and Remus are on his side. Dumbledore means well. The Order of the Phoenix may have a bad guy or two, but the vast majority do not want to see Harry injured in any way. There's nothing wrong with asking for help, and sneaking into the Restricted Section does not equate to being the best duelist in the school by third year.
5. More Character Deaths. Plot changing ones. It's not a dystopian world, but fuck, hardly anyone was offed by Voldemort occupying Hogwarts for a year. A Sadistic!Voldemort would have skull-fucked Neville and Ginny while Harry watched.
6. Ruthless!Bellatrix, Lucius, Barty Crouch. Jr. etc. The bad guys need to be BAD.
7. Mentor!Barty Crouch, Jr. as Moody. Imagine the impact on canon if Harry followed Crouch's lead for most of 4th year.
8. After 4th year, Harry becomes TONS more paranoid and starts delving slightly into dark magic. Hermione even takes a rest before Harry leaves the library. He wears himself into the ground because he has to protect everyone.
9. He accepts the prophecy as if he's known all along. Dumbledore doesn't know what to think about that.

I would really love to read about the fall of Grindelwald. That fight should be super epic, and I haven't really read a good story depicting it. Actually, I think I've only seen it attempted twice.

 

I'd type just several words - HOGWARTS STAFF IS COMPETENT.

 

That would completely wreck the entire series' plot! Snape of course would either not be recognizable, or fired after day 1
