Regardless of their mission, whether they succeeded or not, the ultimate fate of the blue wizards was not told, thus not set in stone.

 

I would read the shit out of that. So, so much.

 

Tolkien changed the Blue wizards from originally failing like Saruman, to not failing but not succeeding, like Radagast. They did good work, but not to the level or far reaching effects of Gandalf.

 

Some weird ideas inspired by staying up way too late:

#1. Neville Longbottom = Scientologist.

#2. Dinosaurs such as t-rexes and raptors still exist, but in the wizarding world.

#3. Before his first year at Hogwarts, Draco gets the diary and is possessed by Riddle. He dies and Riddle gets to keep Draco's body as his own.

#4. The Greek Gods actually exist, live on Mount Olympus and officially rule the wizarding world.

 

Damn, that would make a good story.

I can just imagine a scarily competent 'Draco' running wild through the school. Maybe it could be that a more sane Voldemort sees how insane his older counterpart became (a bit like A Black Comedy) and decides to take another route in taking over Britain.

 

A God of War crossover, then? Harry == Kratos. Hell, I'd like to see a well-written BAMF!Kratos!Harry once.

 

This isn't a plot bunny so much as a plot tadpole, but I've always wanted to see a fic where the Deluminator plays a key role. I don't think I've ever seen it appear, much less have an impact on the plot, in a single fic. I get that it's kind of a janky ability - putting out lights, plus creating some kind of attachment/Portkey guide light/homing device.

Still, somewhere in the ocean of creative fanfic writers out there, there's got to be someone who's had a stroke of brilliance for how to use this in a cool way. Right?

 

I think this might be the case in Hogwarts Battle School. Draco shows a sudden increase in competence between his third and fourth years after his father is arrested. It is just a theory though.

 

This actually came out of a lulzy discussion in the pet peeves thread. Neville is practicing for his potions OWL and makes a hair color changing potion. He comes down to the common room and requests people to help him by testing it. Of course, people just look at each other and find excuses not to drink it. But Hermione, being quite self righteous, believes that anyone who wants to improve must be helped. She drinks it. The next thing everyone knows, the hair on her head and pubic area interchange. Cue craziness.

Neville brews a potion that does exactly that, Hermione drinks it and is left with a cleanly shaven head.

Feeling terrible and berating himself for not living up to Hermione's faith in him, he resolves to figure out exactly where and how his potion went wrong. Cue Hermione torn between her desire to see her friends succeed academically and her desire to avoid the embarrassment should the actual effect be revealed. Perhaps, mortified at having apparently dosed Hermione with a hair loss potion, Neville decides to down some himself. Maybe Harry and Ron join him in a show of solidarity for their friend.

Why leave the embarrassment to one person, the more the merrier.

 

This was originally a play on her being "bushy-haired" (in my defence, English isn't my first language and horrible puns are my stock in trade XD). Taking things further, we find out that Ron, contrary to everything we know, isn't a true redhead. Also, Fred and George manage to somehow sneak it away and dose Malfoy with it, and he suddenly sprouts a Mohawk.

What if they managed to prank Dumbledore?

 

Just like dosing Dobby - you don't want to find out oh god why would you want to find out.

 

Outwardly nothing would happen and Dumbledore's head stays the same. The potion still worked though. Now, think of the implications.

 

I think it would be interesting if someone wove cyberpunk elements into Harry Potter. Think of a magical equivalent of the matrix (of the Neuromancer sort of matrix). Or, instead of electronic cybernetics, you could have a host of magical augmentations. Something like Moody's magical eye sets the precedent. Why not take it all the way e.g. characters that are in magical prosthetic bodies, sort of the equivalent of Ghost in the Shell's prosthetic bodies. Various private magical interests control most of the power throughout the Wizarding World. And so forth.

 

I've been wanting to see a story that combines cyberpunk and magiteck for a while.

 

And ol' Albus gives it to McG. Or worse, Snape. *shudder* All that grease on his dong...

Undoubtedly H/Obesity

Due to dangerously high level of literal poison in his bacon, Harry dies at age 35. He meets Riddle in Hell and the two hit it off, although Harry insists on calling his new pal 'Oldy Snorts' who in returns calls Harry "Gary". Time travel accidentally to when Satan is born and now Riddle and Harry must convince God to create humanity. Canon pairings.

 

Plot Bunny, a crossover with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Xander is convinced by Willow to dress up as Albus Dumbledore for Halloween.
(Pro Tip: the fic would assume that the HP books were published earlier in the Buffyverse).

He does and when the curse of Janus starts working, Xander naturally changes into the old headmaster we all know and love.

Dumbledore is taken from before he was cursed by the ring Horcrux, because Xander would obviously not incorporate a cursed hand into his costume. I'd say that the best time to take Dumbledore from would be just after Voldemort returns in GoF.

Yes, Dumbledore would have his wand, because how can you make a costume of a wizard without a prop wand?

So Albus is eventually informed by Willow as to what happened and he helps her and Buffy deal with the Halloween curse.

There's a problem though: when the curse is lifted, Dumbledore remains and Xander does not return.

Why? Well remember that at this point Dumbledore has the Elder Wand. It turns out that the two magic systems of both Potterverse and Buffyverse somehow conflicted and Albus is permanently stuck in this dimension.

The story would then follow from that point as Dumbledore changes the Buffyverse.

 

So basically, Buffy can go retire because Dumbledore takes care of all threats in 5 seconds flat. Fic focuses on Dumbledore's quest to find a place in the US that sells Lemon Sherbets, occasionally killing minor gods before afternoon tea.
