From what I understand, everyone works in the child brothel willingly. It's even stated that fem!Harry adopted the younger ones and cared for them when 'customers' got abusive. So her family not saying a word about it, could be explained by that. After all, fem!Harry did subtly threaten Sirius once he got mad about Narcissa.

It's not really realistic, but that's the reason I remember.

See, that's the problem with it. It doesn't really address the reality that she spent half her life in a child brothel as a child prostitute. It gives a sanitized version of it, and that just rubbed me the wrong way. My final straw with the Fic actually came with this issue: shortly after she kills the Dursleys in an insanely brutal way as vengeance for abuse they gave her for years that culminated in kicking her out, she goes back to the child brothel where she helps out the owner with running the place and updating wards that keep the cops away. There is something deeply messed up how the Author made the Dursleys worse than Voldemort, but the child brothel is perfectly harmless.

And it didn't help that there is literally no reason for her to have been in a child brothel all this time. She was already being taught Magic by that voodoo woman. Why couldn't she live with her? It lets Fem!Harry still have a hard life, but without being a child prostitute. And the woman dies shortly before Fem!Harry's found by Sirius, so it's not like she would have had an important role anyway. The only real tie it has to the rest of the story is making Narcissa one of Fem!Harry's regulars, which is also kind of glossed over for a whole range of reasons.

Not Really WBWL But The Dark Dragens Children of Darkness: Dark Beginings one of my favorites. There are multiple triggers and he only wrote the first book. Sorry for no link i'm on my phone.

No I'm just retarded. I asked about The Dark Dragen and why people here seem not to like him so i guess some more opinions would be nice I mean I understand Vulcan has its bad moments but at least Harry is not a pussycat.

Are there any more stories that have Beyond the Pale's setup?

Like the relationship dynamic Harry has with his parents and/or sibling, or where he's just... blank?

Beyond the Pale was really well written. Abandoned, but still worth reading.

And that how it is easy to notice that author completely fails characterisation, story is complete and total failure and should not be recommended. This is kind of stuff that is going too far.

At this point I start to wonder whatever author is involved in stuff described for example here: http://www.cracked.com/article_21538_5-things-i-learned-as-sex-slave-in-modern-america.html

There is one other fic that had some potential, if only for an asskicking autistic Harry:

    https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4167175/1/Magus-Emissarius

It's abandoned and lame, but at moments entertaining. WBWL and all that, but no Dursleys and no dysfunctional Potter family.

Princess of the Black is not actually a Wrong-Boy-Who-Lived fic. Dani Potter is the Boy-Who-Lived, his scar holds part of Voldemort's Soul and is a horcrux.

Absolutely not. Lily and James were not bad people by any account except Snape's. Harry being mistreated or ignored for NO GOOD REASON and then whinging out about it in internal monologue is shit.

Download. The story you recced sucked. Not just in terms of plot, though that was terrible too, but characters, writing, the whole lot. I'm a big of Harry/Luna or even Fem!Harry/Luna, so I'd normally be able to look past some badness... But not with that fic.

    ....wait a minute. Dani Potter?

Dani Potter is the Boy-Who-Lived? I would've understood if the author named the character Dani because both of the Potters were girls, but I've never seen a male Dani before. Minor qualm, considering the ridiculousness described by others about this story, but still.

This thread proves that The Santi's fic is the only otherbwl story that honestly works.

Either way, it was terrible. The only good thing I can say about it was that it kicked my "Wrong-Boy-Who-Lived" guilty pleasure phase.

I like it. A truly evil, yet still sympathetic main character. A prophecy being fulfilled in the best greek tradition. Interesting voodoo magic, well-crafted wizard culture events and politics, and a smart Voldemort.

What-is-in-a-Soul is somewhat based on the Substitute idea. The story has some real emotional impact and not just some fake contrived angst. There was some real potential until the stupid decision to change Harry and sadly it's now abandoned.
