I like the basic premise of Dudley becoming a mutant as a jumping off point for a X-Men crossover but everything else was just bad.

First off mutants in HP world would just be worse version of wizards. So the very idea that Xavier could fight off Voldemort is rather laughable. And how exactly would the word of Xavier prove that Sirius is innocent? Especially if "no one in the wizarding world knows about mutations", he would just be treated as some crazy bloke that claims to know how to read minds and any attempt to prove that he can would just lead to him being locked up and studied.

I would do the crossover differently. Keep the besic premise of Dudley becoming a mutant, but move the date to sometimes after OOtP so the Wizarding world if far to preoccupied with Voldemort. That way Dudley can go off to Xavier's school.

Second I would make mutants squibs. The very idea that there are to completely separate systems of magic powers is too convoluted.(and yes what mutants do is magic, no amount of hand waving in the comics could ever make me see them as anything other than magic users) The basic principle of the x gene could be kept, but what it does should be changed to allowing squibs to concentrate what little magic they posses into a singular magical talent. It would could also explain some of the more OP mutants as full blown wizards that had the gene manifest and supersede whatever it is that makes one magical. (Under no circumstances should magic or what makes one a wizard become quantifiable).

Perhaps having the first mutant show up during Grindelwald's reign of terror would be a decent explanation on why the wizards didn't do anything productive with the mutants. Everyone was to busy fighting the big bad to pay any attention to reports of accidental magic, but by the time Grindelwald was locked up the muggle militaries had gotten their hands on them. Weary after the ICW votes to let the mutants stay on the muggle side, but as a precaution all knowledge of the magical world should be obliviated from them. As it's easier to just track down all the mutants and obliviate them, than to conduct a massive infiltration of the worlds militaries and erase all evidence of magic. The only reason that Dudley escapes this fate is that the war against Voldemort has picked up and once again everyone is to preoccupied to deal with it, or perhaps Harry convinces Dubledore to let Dudley to keep his memories as they have become friends of sorts after the Dementor incident.

From there on HP canon progresses as it did in the books, or with small alterations to make DH less shit. Harry doesn't even spare a thought about Dudley or the mutants in general as stopping Voldemort must be his priority. He only remembers of the situation some time after the war has ended. Convincing Hermione and Ron to go and check out this group of semi wizards.

Can't really think of a plot from there as the memories of X-Men world are rather hazy, but it's sure to say that the first couple of chapters should be something along the line of HP wizards face-roll every problem the mutants have. It should be easy enough that they still think that this is a get to know session. The news of them proliferate through the mutant ranks and this makes all the big hitters to come out and play posing a real challenge for the Wizards. Although I can't come up with a decent reason why the gang wouldn't just call Aurors to deal with whatever the problem is.

This was just a stream of consciousness as I was sitting in the bath so perhaps it's as bad as your original suggestion. The main point of all this is Wizards>>>>mutants. Oh you can read my mind? How about now that you are a pot plant? Uh you are shooting lasers out of your eyes and conjuring lightning? Let's just put you to sleep until we figure our what exactly to do about that, might take a while so let's have you drink this potion of Living Death.

While Mutant Storm isn't in my list of favorites, the idea of mutants classified by the Ministry of Magic as Dark Creatures and treated as badly as Werewolves makes sense.

... Wow. This discussion really feels like it'd be more at home on Spacebattles. No, that wasn't a compliment.

Honestly, I find a large portion of the issues with Mutants irritating because the discrimination theme was anvillicious early on and now its just overused.

KGB speaks sense though, I like his idea of mutants being squibs who funnel all their magical potential into one tallent. I will point out that most of the issue that Wizards>>>Mutants can be overcome by just having Harry and co. actually sticking to the Statute of Secrecy. So they don't use any blatant magic that they can't pass off as other stuff.

No it doesn't and you should feel stupid for saying so.

The difference between Mutants and Werewolves are multiple. First, werewolves, unlike mutants, can spread their 'curse' via infection. Second, most mutants have controllable powers and don't go crazy once a month trying to kill everyone. There is litterally no justification for classifying mutants as dark creatures other than 'herp derp discrimination yay!'. Its more likely they'd get a sort of semi-protected legal status. Treated very much like the innocent kid sibling who you like but don't trust to look after himself.

Because in this case that's basically what they'd be. Half pint wizards.

Ironically, the blood purists might be the people most in favour of mutant rights/equality, after all there are pureblood mutants and they're still magic right?

I was scared for a second of Willow wankers...
    :facepalm

You need to start with this to even tickle a damned dragon. Anything less is a waste of time.

I guess a Killing Curse could work though.

    Check out my sig dawg.
It also made newly animated objects not move anymore.
    Fixed that for you.

Because the magical people actually gave a fuck. Mind Reading, Imperius, Apparition and the variety ways of murder would make taking Lenin's revolution down and keeping it down completely trivial. As would rescuing the Czar and his family.

Just make Rasputin a fucking wizard, and BAM. You have it.

Bonus points if Voldemort just sits back and consolidates and waits for the opportune moment to nail Dumbledore with a Killing Curse.
The usual defense, in real life as well, is that young boys want it.

As if somehow, teenage girls 16 and up don't want to have sex....
    Fixed it for you.:sherlock:

    :fire:fire:fire

    But not really...
the thumbs up button doesnt work for some reason.
Being poor is a disadvantaged background.

An idea. For a onshot, or much longer fic. Please don't use pup or any other weird arsed bullshit.
Also, agreed, besides Comic book bullshit and super retardedness, Voldemort and the Death Eater's would slaughter their way through Xavier's School like it was nothing.

EDIT:Comparing ANY super powered group of people with LGBT, or racial groups for the purposes of talking about discrimination, is completely absurd for any one looking at a depth greater than an ass hair's breadth. And completely retarded for anyone trying to drum up sympathy for real life groups. Period.

And muggles can't steal magic from purebloods. Didn't stop the Muggle-Born Registration Commission from forming.

Because he keeps posting stupid ass big pictures.

Pro tip, for me, anything bigger than 1920x1080 is stupid ass big.

shit, half that is still probably stupid ass big.

Chill on the big ass pictures man. Google "image resizing" and you can find multiple sites that will make your pictures smaller while maintaining resolution, or just fuckin link to the image.

You have no idea about Marvel, do you? Marvel's heroes and villains regularily deal with magic on a scale far bigger than Voldemort could dream of.

Just about every Marvel series has been crossed over into just about every other Marvel series at one point. X-Men know how to deal with magic.

    Let's change the subject:

I've heard that Jo Rowling and Stephen King are good friends and fans of each others work.

How about a Harry Potter crossover with the Stephen King universe?

I'm thinking Post-Hogwarts, Harry travels the world and ends up in Maine. Scary things follow.

Should we just have Arthur Weasley's Ford Anglia be Christine? Because I'd totally be down with that.

According to canon, the 1st time the wan was conquered, it was not even through magical means, but the conqueror cut Peverell's throat, while he slept, right?

This started over in story search:
    -----
Harry becomes Frank Lonbottom in the past via Memory Projection:
I was thinking of a plot bunny where Harry casts his memories backwards, and thought, who could he send his memories back into (other than himself). Here I thought would be a great use of two Longbottom bodies that are accessible in the future, and are known to be unused after a certain point in the past.
    -----
CrackedMind thought this thread would be better suited.

My original thought was a one time casting, and then the story just progresses in the past, sometime just after Big V spirits off, and the Longbottoms are put out of commission. Frank "wakes up", and Harry sets about changing things, raising Neville, etc.

It might be funnier if he can only stay in the past, animating Frank's body for short bursts of time, and then you see him returning to a changed Future. Maybe he ensures no one in the past is aware that Frank or Alice's bodies are being used. Perhaps a nosey Hermione discover's what he's up to, and starts helping.

Thoughts? And more importantly, if something like this is already around, please point me in that direction.
