That's twice you brought up someone else's 'lack of imagination' as a defense for the author's work. Saying that is no sort of valid argumentation for a fic that has OOCs all over the place, that just happen to have the same names as canon characters. To be honest, you sound a tad petulant, like you're saying that others simply cannot comprehend the awesomeness of the fic and the fault lies solely with them rather than the author who tried and failed to present believable characterization.

 

I found this one good for a laugh. Not particularly great, but a funny read nonetheless.

The Open Way is some serious fucked up shit. It updated today. It was great.

 

The text messages were the funniest part of the story for me. Jaqen was awesome (poor Gendry) and the interaction between Tywin and his kids was hilarious.

 

What's been happening? I stopped reading right about the time Darkstar gobbled down some wildfire. Shit was getting real tedious.

 

Ironborne fucking up shit. Rhaegar captured by the dornish. Aegon is seduced by melissandre. And jon is just running around confused

 

Seduction doesn't do justice to someone who can weaponize their womb. The Open Way is sometimes a bit over the top but certainly has it's moments. The Robb stuff for example was very weird but I really like the Oswell and oddly Jon parts.

Self-reccomending, but this probably won't go anywhere beyond a few occasional updates as I play around with the idea.

It's a self-insert story, where I drop into the body of Roose Bolton, Lord of the Dreadfort. Story starts after Bolton receives a raven from Robb Stark summoning the banners to Winterfell.

 

Pretty interesting idea, and would love to see where this goes. The butteflies of a more loyal Bolton, or at least one not quite as ambitious, are bound to make some things better at least, especially one who knows what's going to happen and is in a position to do something about a few things.

Choosing Roose hits the sweet spot of a character who is able to do something with his knowledge but also not someone so influential who can change too many things.

Killing Ramsay is going to change things as it is, hopefully for the better, although it is hard to imagine things becoming worse without him.

 

Roose fucking Bolton. Talk about making an entrance.

 

I'm interested in seeing how far you take this, how often you write up updates and so on. I mean, usually I'd be rather vehemently trashing any self-insert, but you... well, let's face it, I like your work a great deal and have faith you're gonna handle this fantastically. Also, it's Roose Bolton. How can I possibly not love this?

 

I don't know how much of it I'll actually write. I've got three or four chapters in mind (roughly covering events up till and past the Battles of the Green Fork and Riverrun), and after that it's up in the air.

 

I was going to ask how your midevial battlefield tactics and strategy are, but then I saw the update about you retaining some of Roose. Thank god cause if Rob gave you the task he gave Roose you might have caused the Northern army to get obliterated in its first battle

Well, it's not like there's a whole lot of Bolton-centric stuff around anyway, so even just this bit is highly welcome. I always wondered how come no one made a Roose (or Domeric) Bolton quest thread on SV so far.

 

There's an Aleric Bolton quest. Basically 'What if Dom had a little brother'.

But in this quest, he also happens to be a reincarnation of Alucard from Hellsing.
