Additionally, it's repeatedly called the wizarding prison, not a wizarding prison. I think it's safe to say there is no other in Britain. The Ministry might have some holding cells in the basement, though -- space where defendants are kept before trials. The doors Harry passed in OotP, at least, looked like it.

As for the veil thing, the Pottermore excerpt contradicts that as well.

It was my assumption that while Polyjuice did allow you to turn into a dead person, it would just turn you into a dead person until it wore off.

Polyjuice works on a level higher than simple genetics.

After all, Barty turned into a version of Moody without a leg and without an eye.

Has Pottermore released an excerpt in its style about the Daily Prophet, yet?

My google fu is weak today. Does someone perhaps know what the treaty signed after the last goblin rebellion was called? I'm pretty sure it was a specific Treaty of Somewhere.

As far as I can tell the most recent goblin rebbelion was the 18th century goblin rebellion, and, despite two ministers resigning over how badly they mismanaged the war, and the goblins allying with the werewolves, the goblins were soundly defeated. No treaty seems to have been signed.
The 1612 goblin rebellion also ended without a treaty seeming to be signed. The goblins didn't get their demand (their demand was probably wizengamot representation, but whatever it was they definitely didn't get it) and ten years later the wand ban was passed.

But he also turned into a Moody who wasn't "thin and starved -- chunks of his grizzled hair missing."

So it seems that polyjuice replicates some kind of "residual self image"...

In fanon, arithmancy is often used as a class for spell construction and the like. Is that canon or fanon? I seem to remember that the only thing we hear about it from Hermione is that they do something similar to divination but with their birth date and year?

AFAIK the books don't say, what exactly Arithmancy is.

So basically the only remotely useful elective is care? Divination is taught by a crazy person, runes is only a language course, arithmancy kinda like divination and muggle studies horribly outdated. Or is the muggle studies being outdated fanon as well?

We have zero information about muggle studies from canon, if I recall correctly.

So it being outdated is most likely fanon as well.

That's also fanon. The only thing we know is what Voldemort mentioned before murdering Charity Burbage.

Things we know about arithmancy: It is relevant to curse breaking, it deals with numbers, and complex number charts, it is related to numerology(though they may not be using the muggle definition of numerology. If they are it is a kind of divination), Hermoine loves it, and proffesor vector's name is even more obviously a pun than other Rowling characters.

Where do we know arithmancy is relevant for curse breaking from?

From when Harry was looking over options for potential careers in OotP, I think.

    Fine, I overstated it, sorry.
An arithmancy newt is required for getting a job as a cursebreaker for some reason that might be because arithmancy is relevant to cursebreaking.
    Happy?

Try to be more passive aggressive. Dude wasn't arguing with you or debating your statement, he just wanted to know where that information was in canon (I didn't remember it coming up in canon either). Note how Aekiel referenced the relevant scene for us. Good job Aekiel.

Are the Hallows ever referred to as such by people other than those in the know about the truth behind Beedle's story? I'm fairly certain the answer is no, but wanted to double check.
