It's cool how they got them essentially working the same case and it's awesome how Castle basically solved it solo.

 

The past two episodes just felt fun. A lot better than how it's been recently.

I'm more excited that it's really back to the main cast and we've basically ignored Martha and Alexis.

 

Werd.

I'd be totally okay with Alexis deciding to become a doctor at a college on the west coast tbh, lol. Basically fuck her off.

 

Castle and the team need to roflstomp Sonny and Cher. There's no satisfying end to this arc without the two of them experiencing the feeling of being outplayed, and us seeing their faces when they realize it.

 

3XK was ruined for me when he appeared the third time. It was kinda like that guy from Bones who could like hack everything and wrote code on bones to be scanned and shit. Ruined the thing for me.

 

3XK is fine for me, I'm more annoyed by the good guys when it comes to him.

Smarter criminals are never a bad thing imo, it just puts the onus on the writers to not make it frustrating and not enjoyable.

 

I'm getting sick of procedurals that have a villain who always out-smarts the heroes.

The Mentalist, all the CSIs, various Law and Orders, the fucking Good Wife. And now Castle.

Don't get me wrong, a smart villain makes things interesting.

But a villain that's so smart they are literally ahead of the game every single step of the way? Psychopaths or not, no one is good enough to Batman Gambit their way through life. It's started taking me out of the story.

And as for the last scene...

we know Beckett's going to be fine. The time-traveler a couple seasons ago told us she becomes a senator. So really, there's no tension left at all.

 

She could get crippled you know... or fall in a coma and wake up a year before she becomes a senator.

that put a massive stop to the show being more about character interactions for me - with the death of the PI gig, Castle will be relegated to tag along again.

And just when Rick gets his chance to be a badass hero, they go an ruin that too by having Beckett save herself. You know, just in case for one second you ever entertained the thought of a powerful woman needing rescuing.

Maybe I'm just overly sensitive.

 

Then break out and start again?

 

I was kinda hoping that we'd get a few more seconds for the realization that he'd been rolled to properly register on his face..

Don't really get your problem here. Castle had his badass moment with his triumph over his foil, what with him having completely outsmarted him and then giving the order, and Backett had victory by freeing herself and murdering her foil.

I honestly don't understand your complaint.

Sure, it could have been better, but the problem wasn't that Kate wasn't enough of a damsel in distress. What a weird thing to complain about.

 

Read into it however you like.

I'm actually glad for the resolution of the 3xk plot. I was getting really irritated by it.

It's not so much that Kate wasn't enough of a damsel in distress as it is that Castle almost never gets to be the hero. It's always but always one of the three cops saving him most of the time being Beckett. Personally I agree that Id love to see Kate completely fuck up a situation and Castle is the one who has to come pull her out of the fire.

 

So necro posting for the season 8 premiere, overall I thought this was a good episode but the underlying message kinda irritated the crap out of me.

So when Castle vanishes on the way to marry the woman he's been in love with for years and the only evidence left behind is his burning car and blood obviously the only logical conclusion is that he faked his death to ditch Kate at the altar. When Kate vanishes seemingly entirely of her own volition after point blank lying to literally everyone she cares about only to reappear long enough to commit a laundry list of crimes including shooting three people to death Castle just needs to trust her because she knows what she's doing? What the fuck is that? I get that it's a bit different circumstances, I really do but the underlying "Beckett is a saint who can do no wrong and Castle is an asshole" message is ridiculous. If at a minimum we don't get several episodes where people openly rub this shit in Kate's face and don't trust her Im gonna be pissed.
