Miles was a mix of marvel trying to draw in new readers and also trying to point the light on how inclusive they are to have a minority as Spiderman.

The quality of writing reflects this.

Ultimate Peter was less interesting than 616 because it reverted the character back to HS days; that said, miles was worse than both IMO.

I really want to see a more mature Peter in these movies. Already graduated college. Also the one thing they need to highlight (which both previous versions were weak in though Raimis was okay) is how Peter has intelligence nearly on par with Tony Stark.

 

Not really. In fact he's probably less interesting. But the one thing Spider-Man doesn't need is another reboot of the Peter Parker origin.

If they do end up going with Parker, I hope to God he's already Spidey and has been for years.

 

The thing I like about Garfield? He can play high-schooler and adult, lol.

I agree they need to showcase his brilliance more though.

 

Morales isn't better per say, only thing I can say about him is he's different, and that's about it. But to be perfectly honest it ruined the series for me and they didnt have a good reason to do what they did.

It's Peter Parker who makes Spider-man not Spider-man who makes the man. Slapping on the costume and the name doesnt make you Spider-man.

 

I don't like Miles because they killed Ultimate Peter off for him. I'd been fine with him as a partner to Peter or something.

Though, given the cesspit of idiocy that the Ultimate Universe became, maybe death is a release.

I'd rather they not try to put Miles Morales in any movies. They don't need encouragement.

 

Down with miles, but give me Spider-Gwen any day.

 

I really like that new Spider-girl outfit, but not with the red trimming. I remember seeing an older (?) pic once where the red is far more subdued, almost brown. The hoody is badass too.

Looks like it's another reboot. Yay...

 

It's amazing how quickly my enthusiasm has turned to seen it all before boredom. Do we really need another reboot? It seems to me that there are a bunch of ways they could do it without requiring yet another high school reboot film.

1. The last two ASM films get retconned to take place prior to/concurrently with the first phase of the MCU (Iron Man 1 up to and inclusive of Avengers). From there, you could tie both franchises together perfectly easily.

2. If you want to go the reboot path, use Agents of SHIELD. Coulson and team run into teen!Spidey, and are impressed enough to let him go/offer him a job. If the latter, that would tie in with the comics Civil War story, although it's not necessarily going to be the same in the films.

3. Tie the above two approaches together. Have the exisiting Spidey crop up in AoS, being targeted by Hydra for science. They get some of his DNA, combine it with some of the shit they've researched previously, and presto, you've got Miles Morales. Or Jessica Drew. Or whichever other Spider character you want. They can run around the dedicated MCU, while Peter can stay over in the Sony run films.

 

Eh, a reboot doesn't necessarily mean doing his origin again.
Though that's probably too optimistic.

Also, if you want a different Spider-Man, why not Miguel O'Hara, AKA Spider-Man 2099?

 

If it's Peter Parker and he's going back to high-school... it kinda does. Which is why I hope to god it's Morales instead.

 

I would take Peter Parker in high school again over Miles Morales in a heartbeat. Reboots don't bother me.

 

So does that first point in the link mean that Spiderman will just be a glorified Cameo at best? Because I don't see how he'll have a large role if Marvel aren't getting paid.

This deal looks like it will benefit Sony the most.

 

Marvel Studios get all the money from his guest appearances while Sony gets none.

Sony gets all the money from the solo films.

 

I don't mind reboots, but there have been two in the past five years. That's just waaaaaaaay too much. I love Spiderman, but I don't see myself watching the movie unless it does something to really set itself apart.

 

I don't really mind the idea of a reboot, but well, the idea that they'd do something as random as use the new Ultimate Spider-Man when the character is already pretty irrevocably tied to Peter Parker in essentially everyone that matters' mind is more than a little absurd. Especially when I've yet to actually meet anyone who genuinely prefers the new one to the old one. Sony's significantly less likely to do that than they are to make a 10 by 10 pile of hundred dollar bills and set it on fire. And Marvel is a lot of things, but Clinically Retarded isn't one of them.

They're usually pretty good with casting but I hope to fuck they don't make Peter to be too attractive. For me, Peter is a good looking guy but he's not overly handsome. I just have a weird feeling that they will cast someone who doesn't look like him. Don't know why.

I don't mind a reboot but it would be nice to just drop Spidey in. It would be good if they done this whilst perhaps working on a solo film that included flashbacks...Adult Spider-Man kicks all sorts of ass, storyline wise. Sin Eater, Symbiotes, Clone Saga (Some of the best Spidey artwork ever regardless of the convoluted storyline).

 

They've said they want high schooler Spidey.

 

Please use Spectacular (the cartoon) as main inspiration. Please, please, please. I will sacrifice children to you Oh Lord Darkness and Infinite Profit. I swear to whatever gods may be, I see anything from Ultimate (again, cartoon) I will suicide bomb the shit out of Marvel and Sony.
