Those are great, and very, very relevant. Especially the Imitation Game's which is disturbingly truthful.

Whiplash was great all the way through, but the ending was FUCKING AMAZING. Imitation Game was great, too, and it brought up a complete fucking disgrace from our past...

But yeah, Grand Budapest has got to be the weirdest and greatest fucking movie I've seen in... ages.

I'm still a bit salty that Fury is nowhere on the list of nominees. I get that the whole list is pretty stacked with awards-bait this year but Fury was easily among the most enjoyable films I have ever seen so it irks me a bit that it didn't make it onto the list of nominees at all. All five main actors gave great performances, the action scenes were superb, and it had serious emotional and thematic impact. It easily ranks alongside Saving Private Ryan and Enemy At the Gates as far as WW2 movies go.

    Fury > American Sniper.

    By like, a lot.

Thought Fury was a much better movie than Saving Private Ryan. It certainly managed to get the atmosphere better than Ryan did. Haven't seen American Sniper so I can't comment on it.

    Fury has Shia LeDouche.

No amount of Brad Pitt can counter that.

Have you seen American Sniper then? Just curious, as I haven't seen either yet, but I've only heard good things about it from my friends that saw it this weekend.

It's basically a documentary that doesn't want to admit to being a documentary. It's the guys story, 100% true, with nothing added or subtracted from it. There isn't any real tension, no conflict, no drama. Nothing. Read the wikipedia page instead.

Fury has its own issues, but it is the better movie in comparison to Sniper.

It was dull. Some people are calling it jingoistic (for good or ill) - personally it didn't seem that way to me, more like simplistic. In general, it was a real slog getting through it.

It could be that they decided that it is just a feature-length advertisement for Lego toys. A well-made one, granted, but still.

Not that I'd agree with such reasoning, but it may be a plausible explanation.

Actually, I think you may be right - they may have thought "Oh, like Transformers? I don't even need to bother watching it." or it could've been "I don't get it"

Stupid fucks. As if American Sniper isn't an Army commercial.

Watched the Golden Globes show on YT. Damn, why do I even care about Oscars anymore? HFPA don't take themselves super seriously and let their hosts make jokes that are actually funny.

I'm not sure if you saw Fury or not but he was actually really really good in it.

Oh God. Oh dear God. The villain from Jupiter Ascending won an Oscar. Oh my. And fuck, How To Train Your Dragon 2 lost. Shame. Really loved it, the 1 was better though.

I'm not surprised that Big Hero 6 won. I had hoped either Princess Kaguya or Song of the Sea would have taken home the trophy, but it didn't seem likely.

I am so ridiculously happy that J.K. Simmons won this year. Man needed some recognition.

Uh, have you seen The Theory of Everything? It was great and Redmayne killed it. Don't judge an actor's work in one film based on another that you didn't like.

I haven't seen Birdman, but I guess I'm just happy that American Sniper didn't win best picture.

I haven't. I am just laughing so much. An (almost) Oscar-winner perfomance! That's hilarious. JK is incredible, but since he won everything else I can remember I am not surprised. I don't think American Sniper won any major prize on the Oscar, thankfully.
