Which magical school would you (most likely) attend?

So we don't have an actual full list of all the schools of magic from Jo, but what we do know will be enough for the purposes of this thread.

    Basically my question is:

Based on your location, which school of magic in the Harry Potter universe would you most likely attend if you were born there (and you were magical)?

Now, since we don't actually have a full canonical list, we can use this list Taure once made. While it is not canon, this thread is mostly for fun, so it doesn't really matter all that much.

From this list it seems I would attend Durmstrang, however it does not accept muggleborns. That's a problem and it means I'd probably have to attend Beauxbatons (if I was even informed that magic exists).

I have a feeling that a large amount of folks are kind of forced into that unnamed Hawaii school.

    God damn sexist Salem's institute.

Pffff I refuse to believe that Greece wouldn't have an Academy of Magic.

Beauxbatons, seeing as I live in Belgium.
I wonder what those other schools would be called, though.
Also, what a GoF dealing with some of those other schools would be like.

I'd be okay with having to go to school in Hawaii, I live on the east coast so it'd be nice to go to an island for most of my year and then come back for even more summer.

That does seem a little strange given how Alexandria teaches its lessons in Greek. I assume that means its identity mostly comes from the Ptolomaic period of Egypt's history (reinforced by the library reference) and it would seem that if the Greeks established a school of magic in Egypt they might have established others or at the very least had one at home.

But then again such a school may have been destroyed or abandoned in the intervening years.

    I'm a Hogwarts. Obviously.

It would be Beauxbâtons for me.

I think your ministry would inform you, an uninformed and untrained wizard would be too dangerous.
But yeah, muggleborn exclusion at Durmstrang means that more than half European don't have a "default" school.

I'd go to my local school, because I'm a muggle.

I lived in Hawaii when I was 11, so I guess the Hawaiian school, but since I'm female, maybe I would have decided to go to Salem's Institute instead...depends on what the Hawaiian school was like.

Well, I obviously would live in the jungle. You hqve no idea how many “gringos imbecis” steriotypes you’re checking with that school. And averting some of them, but still. Well, getting to live Bungle in the Jungle everyday would be awesome.

Well since I'm not a girl I guess I get to go halfway across the globe to Hawaii.

They probably have the school in a volcano or something to top it off.

Y'know, a lot of originally girls-only colleges in the Northeast US have converted to co-ed, including Vassar, Radcliffe and Mount Holyoke. Smith is the last holdout, I believe, and they allow male students to take classes even if they attend one of the other four colleges in the area (UMass, Amherst, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire).

Besides this, there's nothing to say that the Salem Witches' Institute is merely founded by and/or run by witches but teaches magic to witches and wizards alike.

Aside from this, there have been more recent Pottermore addenda that mentioned the African school at Uagadou and Koldovstoretz in Russia.

Imagining a fic where the main character is in the first generation of wizards to attend this all girls' school.

I'd probably go to the Hawaii one rather than Salem. The 'Deep South' area of the US isn't particularly close to the Northeast in our minds, so my parents probably would have let me pick. I'd have gone with Hawaii.

hmm i wouldn't be attending any school then, since i am from germany and Durmstrang doesn't allow muggleborns.

on a sidenote: i can not belive Durmstrang could possibly cover such a large area. It would have to cover dozens of languages and, assuming translation magic is a thing, dozens of cultures that are wildly different from another. Along with those cultures come values and habits; i just can't see it happening.

I always liked to imagine that the Hansa and guilds stayed strong in magical Germany since Germany in reality has and always had a strong tradition of being decentralized, so in my headcanon i am going to a small guild-school in Hannover, Bremen, Hamburg or somewhere else maybe.
