    You can, but just because you can doesn't mean it's a great idea to do so. Personally, I avoid fics that are about things that I don't like. I just think it is unfair to the author if I start a story I know I probably won't like and then give it a poor rating because it isn't my thing or I don't have the background to appreciate it. There is a difference between a fic being bad, and it just being something that I don't like.
