Just out of curiosity... how much more do you need it to be? Its in ten chapters, and over 100k words. That is more material than 99.3876519% of the fics out there.

 

To be fair to him, there's not that much Harry/Fleur content in it yet (Quidditch camp and that recent meet-up for tea?). Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely one of the best written fics out there and one of my favorites, but we're gonna have to wait for more on the H/F part.

Careful with that last one. It's massive, the pacing will make you tear your hair out and it's a Harry/Fleur/Hermione 3-way, but if you crave lots of H/F romance stuff, it should keep you occupied for a while.

Heart and Soul? I'd rather read, uhh whatshisnameagain-- the married dude that wrote an HP/Gabrielle fluff fic. Anyway, TLiL was alright. The romance between Harry and Fleur wasn't what engaged me, it was the ACTION.

Yes, it is. As far as romance fics go, I must admit this is one of my favorites.

 

Speaking of smut, what are FFN's rules on that? Because I've seen some fics deleted outright for light-smut, yet others completely degenerate to nothing but smut and stay up.

 

My guess is if someone reports it, the story will be deleted.

I'd also point out that Newcomb's fic isn't a Harry/Fleur shipping fic--it just happens to currently have interaction between Harry and Fleur in a manner that might hint to a relationship at some point in the future.

 

Is there a story, which starts the summer before sixth year?

Harry gets parked at the Burrow and obviously notices how Fleur is treated by Molly, Hermione and Ginny (Phlegm), he doesn't like it, but what can he do?

One late evening after a horrible dream/a nightflight as animagus/whatever Harry goes to the kitchen and stumbles across Fleur with puffy red eyes. She had been crying.

Obviously he can't go back, so he awkwardly tries to comfort her.
She is touched by his effort and reveals to him, that she is angry and sad, that despite her efforts she gets treated like an idiot and Bill isn't doing anything, because he doesn't want to oppose his mother.

At the end she tells him, that she enjoyed his company and they agree to talk again the next evening and the next an so on. They talk about the Triwizard, schools and things go from there, a peck on the cheek, resting her head on his shoulder, she even goes so far to charm Bill to stay asleep.

And drama follows.

 

That sounds incredibly cringeworthy.

 

I would try it myself, but I would die of old age before I have an enjoyable wordcount, not to mention my lack of talent.

Thing is, the summer before sixth year is one of the few canon-divergences to start a Harry/Fleur fic. And year four is already done to death in my opinion.

Edit: The whole interaction could be part of the subplot and not the main theme.

 

You could give writing it a try, you know. Most people suck until they do something and get better. When I was starting to write stuff in 2009 I sucked really hard. Now I suck less.

 

It's listed as Harry/Fleur, and on Newcomb's ffnet profile, it states that part of the idea for this story was writing a believable Harry/Fleur story that is built up slowly. I'd be willing to bet they both have different relationships before they get together which is how it should be.

 

The one thing about Newcomb's fic is that it could easily go

(and may well do; Newcomb seems like the type to string us along with H/F for the lulz and then flip the script at the last second. I can appreciate that if he does, but I don't think everyone will be on board).

 

Spending that much time slowly building up a romance and finally seeing the pairing done right only to flip it at the end would not go over well. If Newcomb did that, I get a feeling it would be Dagger and Rose all over again only to a lesser extent.

 

Exactly this. Where's the fun if everything goes as expected? Newcomb should do a pairing no one sees coming. I'm thinking Draco/Fleur -- after all, its been hinted that their personalities are quite similar. And isn't Draco supposed to be a male Veela or something, potent enough to get even males pregnant? Surely that's our OTP right there?

Then again, Snape/Fleur has a certain charm to it that I've never really considered before, so.......

 

Personally, I ship Hedwig/Fawkes, but that's just me.
