I was about to get super salty that Naruto couldn't even find his son ten feet away, but thankfully Shikamaru stepped in and saved it. I really like the idea of Naruto using shadow clones to keep his son company for some reason. Feels like something he'd have wanted the Sandaime to do, and god knows if Minato had been around he'd be flashing out of his office every five minutes to screw with his kid.

The fact that it's called Naruto Gaiden and not Boruto also gives me tentative hope that he'll play more than a bit role in this continuation. Cautious optimism gogogo.

10/10 to Sasuke for being da man if Karin is really Sarada's mother. Sarada's probably going to go looking for Karin to find out if she really is her mother.

On another note, Naruto started with the first chapter introducing a character who'd never met either of his parents. 1000/10 if this is the same, thought it's a bit unclear if Sarada's met daddy dearest before.

Also, if Sakura isn't really the mother, I can safely say that she's the Stark of the Elemental Nations.

First off, everyone is a little shit at that age.
Second, her mom took down their whole house because she was asked some hard questions. Sarada doesn't even look that surprised. Life with Sakura probably isn't ideal.

Is that blue haired kid maybe Otsutsuki Toneri's son? He has a similar hairstyle, and what you can see of his eyes could be Byakugan. Also, his fashion sense seems very formal and traditional.

 

Well, while I do think it is likely that the girl is Karin's, the photo doesn't exactly prove it. It was a team picture of Hebi, so, it might also just be that Sasuke was too much of a douche to take a picture with Sakura.

Disregarding the physical resemblance because of crappy art, it is just as likely that Sakura and Sasuke have never married, and Sakura was left with a kid and then made that bit of picture manipulation to give her child at least some semblance of a legitimate family. Telling their daughter that her father never cared enough to even take a picture with her has to feel really shitty.

Edit: Then again, Sakura has the Uchiha fan on her back, not sure that proves anything, but that is some legitimacy, right?

That said, wow, do I feel sorry for the continuous dumps Kishi takes on Sakura. She destroys her house, has some sort of frailness, Sasuke just up and left her with either their daughter or just his daughter, with zero checking up on them (and fuck whatever mission he is on, no way do I believe that there is someone or something strong enough alive to be a 12 year challenge for him)

Orochimaru is a pretty safe bet, here. We know that he's going to be the big villain for Boruto's thing, so he clearly fucked off after Naruto and Sasuke had their final fight. I could see Sasuke spending twelve years trying to pin him down and failing. Naruto and Sasuke are basically gods at this point when it comes to combat (and medicine, in Naruto's case), but Orochimaru is the slipperiest character in the manga. He could avoid Sasuke if he really wanted to.

 

I forgot Orochimaru and you are right but I would ask as to why Sasuke would care enough about Orochimaru to hunt him for 12 years. I mean, does he have a bone to pick with Orochimaru at this point? Oro trained him, tried to take over and failed. Not really reason to invest 12 years in that. Why would he care?

 

Whatever Sasuke has been doing it had better be really goddamn important or I'm going to be pissed.

 

It' probably going to end up being a "It was for your own/the greater good" type of deal. But at least Sasuke did't go for the 'I'll mind rape you for your own sake' route of Itachi, or the 'Oh you need support, how about I kill myself and let you sort through the rest' of Shisui.

 

This manga is still going? Kishimoto was unhappy with the size of his money fort, I see.

 

This has been announced since like chapter 700. This is going to be a short manga, it's only for promoting the Boruto movie coming in August.

That's not to say its not impossible Kishi continues it past that, but for all intents and purposes, he will not.
