Let Dumbledore send him under a false name to Beauxbatons, Fleur finds out, cause she's not only a sex-goddess, but also a genius and hooks up with him.

You know, I'd really like to see a good Beauxbatons story that is H/F. With no bashing of Dumbledore, or others. Snape bashing is of course fine.

Dumbledore bashing never makes any sense anyway. I mean he is the head of the ICW, you'd think he'd be able to figure out if Harry went to Beauxbatons. Maybe I'm just tired of Hogwarts based stories.

Add the Malfoy bashing to the mix. They're damn assholes and have an ancestral connection to France.

Or....... you could actually be mature for a change and not bash a character just because you happen to dislike them.

    A novel concept, I'm sure.

How is it possible not to bash the Malfoys?

Well, everyone comes from somewhere else. The line has to be drawn somewhere, so I would say the Malfoys coming from France 1000 years ago is meaningless.

Lucius Malfoy pretty much controlled the whole British Ministry for a year. He was also a highly successful Death Eater chosen by the Dark Lord to lead the DEs into battle before his failure in the DoM.

Draco Malfoy led a bunch of DEs to Hogwarts -- something Dumbledore considered impossible. He also went toe-to-toe with Harry in a duel, obtained an Outstanding in his Potions OWL and one of the few mentioned in canon to have mastered Occlumency.

Narcissa Malfoy...... Why would you bash Narcissa?

If you can't work with that to make the Malfoys actual characters instead of whatever you want to make them, then you must be incredibly dense. Either way, this a Harry/Fleur thread, lets not derail it to discussing the merits and demerits of character bashing. Not that there are any merits, of course.

The Harry at Beauxbatons under a disguise/Crouch putting his name in the goblet thing won't work because Crouch takes one of Harry's signed papers to put it in the goblet. If Harry is signing his name as anything else to avoid notice, then Crouch can't use it.

Much better to have Harry have a crush on Fleur, have her go off to the tournament just after they finally became friends, and then Harry more or less take over the school in her absence. When she comes back for her final year, Harry is a fifth year aceing the Beauxbatons equivalent of the OWLs.

For Voldemort's rebirth, you could still have a scene where Harry is hijacked during the Goblet of Fire. At the same time Fleur is losing/winning the trophy, Harry is being taken from the school by Peter, and none of the people he trusts (Madame Maxime, other teachers) are at the school to protect him. Harry has to find another way out (that isn't contrived), and uses things he's not supposed to know (he was taught/he learned/he stole from Dumbledore) to his advantage to escape.

Bonus points for Dumbledore or Flamel hiding as an Alchemy professor at Beauxbatons.

The idea is good, but I would rather see more of An Unquenchable Thirst to be honest.

Crouch using a real signed paper isn't canon, just highly logical fanfic material. I remember seing it in Denarian for the first time IIRC, it's probably in lots of other fics too. So no definite proof that Crouch couldn't use whatever the fuck he wants to enter Harry.

Also, Fleur doesn't return to Beauxbâtons after the Tournament since she starts working for Gringott's. Being a Triwizard Champion must be better that sitting actual exams.
Harry wouldn't have OWLs equivalent in fifth year in Beauxbâtons, we know they have exams in their sixth year instead (Fleur mocks the English system in HBP)

Apart from that, I would read it. You would need to find a really good way for Voldemort/Crouch/Peter to learn Harry's whereabouts if Dumbledore is hiding him, and then to send him to the resurrection place (and get him back, too), but if you managed to do that it could be really good.

You could have the point of divergence be summer after CoS:

Dumbledore decides that Hogwarts has been a disaster for Harry and that the best chance for a peaceful childhood is at Beauxbatons, where his friend Maxime is the Headmistress. Harry, pissed off at the way he was treated by his classmates and the Malfoy family in general, agrees to the transfer. He spends all summer learning French reading up on French culture, the school, etc.. only to arrive at Beahuxbatons to meet Dupuis Malfoy and his father Jean (who happens to be on Beauxbatons board of governors), Dupuis (armed with information from his cousin Draco) turns the whole school against Harry making him a total outcast, much like Fleur Delacour. Fast forward 2 years and Harry and his best friend head to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament where Harry's determined to ask his best friend to the Yule Ball.

That first point: awful. Downright terrible. Because we know that the 'blood wards' (are they even called that in canon or is that just fanon once more intruding?) provided him with protection; see Quirrell's death.

The third point: How could Quirrell teach for 3 years with Voldemort's curse still being on the DADA position?

Whoa there, how about adding more to "An Alternative Prophecy"? It's been a while now.

What about Ron and Hermione? He'd just leave them behind? It seems highly unlikely.

The loose idea I came up with as I wrote it off the top of my head isn't perfect, and I'm not a writer but..

Ron and Hermione were both offered the chance to go to Beauxbatons. However, Hermione's parent's wouldn't sign off on the idea and Ron either:

A). isn't eligible for scholarships at Beauxbatons because he's not a French citizen and therefore can't afford tuition. For all we know the only reason the Weasley's can all go to Hogwarts is because Dumbledore awards them all some bullshit scholarship.

    B). Ron's grades suck and isn't admitted.

C). Molly won't let Ron go to a foreign country.

D). Ron doesn't want to learn French.

Harry, not having any guardian besides the Dursleys, is more or less allowed to make his own educational decisions, and although he'd miss Ron/Hermione he goes over thinking that he'll have the opportunity to make a lot more friends because he won't be facing so much pressure. Their could be a whole side-plot about how Harry's back at Hogwarts for the Tournament and is awkwardly trying to reconnect with all his old housemates.

Not a bad idea, but I really dislike the outcast!Fleur trope.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of it either, too much angst. I was mainly just building off the idea of "how can Harry realistically end up at Beauxbatons?" and that's what I came up with: Harry transferring for a fresh start just to run into the same old problems.

So basically he leaves Hogwarts to avoid shitty treatment but gets shat on anyway? And why is Fleur an outcast?
I am sure there are better ways to give them a common ground for bonding.

I don't know why being an outcast has to contain angst for Fleur.

Maybe angst for the people who made her an outcast? I can easily see Fleur using her charms to break up countless relationships, steal boyfriends from other witches and then dump them once the conquest is over, as well as turning to dueling, if for no other reason than to protect herself from said witches when they try to harm her further.

But really, the whole cliche of the beautiful girl being made into an outcast seems improbable to me.
