This is the funniest shit I have read in whole week. jokes are funny and it just long enough to use that well and end.

In fact I just might post this to reviews if it is liked.

    Title:Coiling Dragon
    Author: I Eat Tomatoes
    Fandom: Original webnovel
    Rating: Teen to mature
    Link: http://www.wuxiaworld.com/cdindex-html/
Status: Original text is complete, translation to english is on volume 13 of 21

Summary: Follow the life of Linley Baruch in the Yulan continent.

First of all the link is to someone translating the original web novel which is in chinese so some of the titles are a bit odd at first but they're not cringeworthy.

The story is akin to the Dragonball series in that the main character is constantly training, often to either defeat someone or for the sake of training and with enemies that appear constantly increasing in power. It differs in that the main character while OP is definitely relatable and while in the scheme of the story universe he does these things at a young age compared to others it is still stressed that most of these things do take years. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure but the world building is good establishing a scope and then expanding it as the story goes on in on a good pace.

    It's a good time waster 3/5

That's not exactly a fanfiction. I think webnovels might go in the manga or book recommendations.

So here's something I've been meaning to post here. Essentially this story is a fusion of Artemis Fowl's world with something resembling the Marvel Cinematic continuity (it's partially AU since it includes some events I'm pretty sure only happened in the comics). This story is not for people unfamiliar with either of the franchises involved. If you haven't read Artemis Fowl, you will be completely lost, and you really should have knowledge of the first five books to best keep track of what's going on.

I remember really enjoying Artemis Fowl, but it's been sooo long since I last read any of them I can't remember where I left off. Is it a good enough fic for me to pick up AF all over again and then read it after?

Honestly I couldn't remember anything except the first book when I went into it, and it only took me 5 minutes of wiki-walking to figure out what had happened since then. As long as you've read the first book you'll know all the characters that matter.

EDIT: I forgot about the dad. If you haven't read the second book, he'll come out of nowhere, so give the wiki a glance if you haven't read the book.

I don't think it's worth reading the entire series for. If it was, I'd have put it up for review rather than stuck it in Almost Recommended.

I actually started rereading the series after reading that. Did not feel it aged particularly well. I only got through the first three chapters of the first book, but Artemis is too artificially awesome, lacking in all human characteristics, and the explanation of how he got on the People's trail is kinda bull. It was honestly the final thing that killed it for me, as the rest I could've explained away by assuming that he matured as the series went on (which I'm fairly sure is true, but the other stuff makes me reluctant to double check by reading it all).

The fic is still worth reading though, just trawl through the wiki for anything you're unfamiliar with.

I couldn't get past Chapter 4. It reminds me of one of those Hurt/Comfort HP fics where Harry goes back in time to his parents and they freak the fuck out and keep mentioning his appearance and age.

Ah that fic, that one popped up in an SB general fic rec thread.

    IT was... Okay.

If you've got nothing to read this is a solid middle of the ground fic.

Its not too terrible but its not exactly "yes read it this moment pleb and be enlightened" either.

If you like how Vathura builds their world then you'll be fine. But if you dont, (Aka Embers shit storm incoming) then you might not.

To me my main points is that there are parts that make me feel like I'm reading an early 2000s indy!Harry fic with apparent random "This speech is reasons you suck. XYZ" moments that really take me out of the fic.

Solid research into background and sociological/psychologic aspects of the fics. But not enough for me to give it a 5 or even a 4.

Like I said. Solid middle of the road fic. 3/5

Decided to have a peak into how the old Familiar of Zero fandom is doing these days.

    Came across this fic:

Zero Summing By: Poliamida Familiar of Zero/Elder Scrolls Xover
Mocked by her peers and a failure as a mage, now she finds herself alone in a foreign land ravaged by a civil war. With the world on the brink of destruction her life couldn't get any worse, could it? Reverse summon AU.
    Rated: Fiction M - English - Adventure/Fantasy - Louise - Chapters: 10 - Words: 85,665 - Reviews: 195 - Favs: 268 - Follows: 346 - Updated: Apr 26 - Published: Sep 3, 2014 - id: 10666431

I should preface by saying I haven't watched/read FoZ (though quite familiar with the fandom, of which most are alternate canon rehashes) nor have I played Skyrim.

Unlike most FoZ crossovers, this takes the route of having Louise get reverse summoned into an alternate universe - in this case, Skyrim. I really liked this concept when I saw it in Stalker Zero (which I recommended earlier in this thread).

Louise is an arrogant and annoying character who puts her entire (lack of) self worth into her (in)ability to do magic. It actually makes her a pretty good protagonist for this sort of concept. We see her develop as a person by being forced into survival situations that make her reassess her attitudes and beliefs.

For once, her acting like a tsundere is actually kind of fun - her acting haughty and arrogant to some of her acquaintances, but also being quick to leap to their defense when someone else insults them. Feels a lot more natural and less painful to read than most of the time fanfic authors (or hell, most mangaka) try to write tsundere characters.

Anyway, something a bit fresh for the people who have exhausted most of the same, repetitive fics in this fandom.

Here is a fun fic I came across:

At almost 400k words, and being decently written, I'm pretty surprised it only has 88 reviews. I should note that I've only seen 4-5 episodes of the JoJo remake, so am going in with limited knowledge of that anime and was still able to enjoy it.

Basically, Code Geass with Stands (in addition to Geass) and a very Jojo style of dialogue, characters and narrative.

It follows a very different set of events to canon Geass, which in my opinion, is the main selling point of this fic. Stands and Geass become a lot more widespread and well known, with the various factions either attaining some for themselves, or finding out alternate ways to combat them.

Downsides is its pretty damn wordy. I found myself skimming through many of the paragraphs during the fight scenes (which go for very long) and losing interest at parts around the middle.

Some of the things you can look forward to:
Lelouch getting a Stand, but pulling the strings of the real Zero.
Shirley getting a Stand and becoming Zero instead.
Nunnally getting a the Power of Kings Geass.
Most of the Britannians (Jeremiah, Viletta, Cornelia and her knights) being badass without any powers

It has a bigger following on SB. Been reading it for awhile, definitely a solid fic. However you left out the best parts!

    Seriously spoilers.
Like the fact that Jonathan Joestar is a fucking Vampire and that DIO BRANDO knows ripple. C.C. is also a master of ripple and that Shirley is a Joestar.

And here I was hoping this would be behind the spoiler tags:

Anyway, I third that recommendation. This story is fun, if wordy, and an interesting blend of the two franchises with intriguing twists on what one would expect.

Does the writing get better or are the first few chapters representative of the whole story? Because its a real slog to read that strange writing style, especially when he misses PoV changes etc.

I think it does improve a decent amount. POV changes become clearer too. Towards the middle it gets a bit more wordy, but in the last few chapters it's become something quite readable. I've stopped skipping through paragraphs at least.

the world building is pretty fun to read, but sometimes the writing just loves to repeat certain phrases like "violet flash". But otherwise its pretty fun to see the main character mature like that from a nine year old to a 60 something year old 4/5

    Edit

Basically if not for the writing it would be a 5/5

I know this fic has come up before, but is just updated after a hella long time. Any fans of DAO who haven't read it yet, I highly suggest you do so.

Corin has updated. If you don't know what Corin is, it follows a Noble Human Warden after the end of The Blight, and his dealing with being the new King and various politics and his relationship with Anora.

    The Perfect Jutsu by serpentguy.
The Shadow Clone Jutsu had always been incomplete. It was meant to be the most unstoppable technique, but it had never been perfected. At least, that was until Naruto Uzumaki accidentally did something that should have been impossible... Strong, unique Kekkei Genkai Naruto.
    Rated: M - English - Adventure/Romance - Chapters: 6 - Words: 42,361 - Updated: Jun 15

Believe me, I know how bad that summary sounds.
This fic is pretty good, though, even if it's not gotten very far yet. It's basically Naruto managing to make perfect clones of flesh and blood - in effect, being one soul split over many bodies - when Mizuki does his thing in the forest. The potential for that is massive, and that's actually been realized well so far both in and out of character.
Technical writing is good, tone is light and humorous, characterization is nothing special so far.

    A nice timewaster, mostly. 3.5/5.

This part was funny. But Kakashis attitude is really annoying. I give it 2,5/5 for the
    moose
    joke.
