Greater variety in the maps would be my only real gripe really, and it seems like they've already done something about that with this.

slightly better PC interface. It felt very much like a controller game.

Tossing out the RNG would be a good start.

XCom: EU for me was an awesome game, but the soldier customization was not very deep, Long War changed that somewhat, but still it was not enough. So what I would like to see is more options for soldiers.

What kind of options though? I'm all for more armors, more weapons, more cybernetic limb-grafting and general augmentation myself, but beyond that I can't really think of anything else to add. I mean, I know there's probably a ton stuff to add, I just can't think of it at this moment.

If this is anything else than Fallout 4, I'm sending Bethesda a flaming poop bomb.

I will laud them for all time if they do a bait and switch, piss everybody off, and just as the riots are about to consume the capitol, they do a 'oh, one more thing...' at the end of their conference.

It won't happen. Obviously. I've a feeling they're announcing it now because they plan on talking a lot about it in their conf. Probably with a November release.

Yeah, me either. The start feels interesting, if maybe a bit matrix-y, but the rest feels too epic. Not much 'Fallout' feel there.

Is it just me, or do the graphics seem way too shiny for a Fallout game?

It's not you. Everything seemed just a tad too clean. Also, not really all that impressive in terms of next gen graphics, which is also contributing to the cartoony sleekness. With the ultra high resolution screens and advanced lighting capabilities of new consoles/pcs, devs can no longer get away with a lot of the design tricks they used to employ.

But honestly, I'd take an impressively huge open world over top of the line graphics any day.

It looked to me like 2011 graphics pretending to be better. I can't wait.

Can't wait to see half of their promises turning out to be outright lies that never get implemented into the game.

Very possible that Bethesda laid the groundwork for a last gen game, and instead of rebuilding from the ground up when next gen kits went out (like square with FFXV), they just decided to give it a next gen remaster.

Hrm. Do we really have to play as another Vault Dweller? New Vegas showed that there's plenty that can be done outside that. And I hope the Brotherhood doesn't have such a big role again.

If that is in-game, while it may look too clean, at least it doesn't look nearly as clunky as 3/NV did.

I'm hoping for it to be better than 3, but I don't expect it to top New Vegas. Well, I'm sure there will be gameplay improvements, but on the whole I don't know if Bethesda has it in them to top Obsidian when it comes to story, setting, choices, etc. in an RPG.

EDIT: Oh, wait. It's a voiced protagonist. Uh oh.

Voiced protagonists aren't a bad thing, provided they're done well. I always found the way they've done interactions to be fairly ridiculous/ hilarious. I hope they've addressed that.

The one thing I hope they address above all else? Don't ship a broken fucking game.

I for one am excited. Within a few months I'll have the game significantly modded, anyway, so things like graphics and bugs aren't such an issue for me. I'm just glad that I'm getting yet another great open world game in 2015/16. At the very least, Fallout 4 will give me a good sense of what I can expect from Elder Scrolls VI (my favourite game series). It looks like they're still using something akin to the Skyrim engine, though, which is a bit disappointing. I had hoped for a leap to something new and better. Oh well, that'll probably happen for the next Elder Scrolls.

Well there's good examples in other series, sure, but it takes away player agency in creating their character. I thought they were already pushing it in Fallout 3.
