Ahh, I know that guy. He wanted to write a fic about harry going to GOT world while back, I piched him idea where Harry takes place of Viserys Targaryen, watching as his dad turn mad, then taking care of his sister while traveling though essos.

Of course he said, He disliked the character, ignored me when I pointed that harry will be replacing him, going about harry visiting valyria learning dragon-lore, getting valyrian sword and armor so he can cast magic through it.

I didn't know how to reply to that without angering him so, I didn't, It also killed any thought of reading his other stories.

Nonsense. Harry being reborn is the premise of the Black Prince. Why is it suddenly terrible if Harry is reborn as Viserys?

 

Harry being reborn as Viserys could work for sure - I believe it's the magic channeling swords and armor, along with researching "dragon-lore" that has prompted a reaction.

But that aside, there's clearly a significant difference between Harry being reborn in the GoT world as a new character and being reborn as a character who did exist in the books.

Well as Harry is replacing Tommen in the Black Prince, he could technically replace Viserys in this scenario.

This was his idea of what Harry will be doing when he gets transported to essos. A reply to my idea of Harry reincarnated as Viserys.

Now that there are fics with Harry in north, south and even beyond the wall, I wated one with him in essos.

 

The Carnivorous Muffin has started two new stories.

The Unwinding Golden Thread is a time travel story with Harry ending up in Tom Riddle's fifth year. It's well written, but I don't like Tom Riddle's characterization. It's marked as a tragedy though, so it could end up being interesting.

The Castle Where Eternity Dwells is a self-insert in which the SI (who has very limited knowledge of the Harry Potter series) is born as Tom Riddle's twin sister. I rather liked the first chapter of the story, so I'm definitely keeping my eye on this one.

 

I read The Unwinding Golden Thread. It looks like she's a slash writer who ships Harry Voldemort. The characterization is kind of ooc. I'd give it a 2 maybe 3 out of 5 for decency so far.

 

This, sir, is quite a brilliant idea. Especially if done in the vein of "The Black Prince". Wish my own grasp of ASoIaF lore was good enough to permit me to write it.

 

Honestly, I like the idea of Harry being reborn in place of Viserys more than I like the premise of The Black Prince.

A jilted prince, forced to wander Essos, trying to gather a host strong enough to take back his Kingdom, all the while caring for and protecting his sister. He would have been born a respected Prince, slowly watched as his father turned mad, and turned into someone that he would hate.

It would be interesting to see.

 

It's not a bad idea, provided one doesn't rewrite GoT canon with Potter on top. I don't see, for instance, Harry standing idly as his dad burns innocent people to death due to paranoia, especially if he retains his memories. Good opportunity for some "Harry is a patricide and now hunted by most, helped by some" drama though.

 

Ah, don't forget about him being born of a pureblood ideal, taken to extreme, and the kicker being it's all because of a prophecy.

The moral dilemma itself would be brilliant. Goddammit. But more than that, he has a sister. That's different from last time. And we have a group of men trying to control his life (Illyrio, Varys, maybe even Connington?), which is different from Dumbledore being the only one in his old life.

Would he still have his "saving people thing?"

 

Does Harry still have his memories in this scenario?

Because if he does I just don't see him going back and trying to retake the crown. Just take his sister and settle down somewhere while trying to get back to his original dimension.

 

If I were doing it, I'd do it the way cxjenious did. Harry doesn't have his memories, but he does have impressions of what once was, and he dreams about it.

It's the year 2183CE. Commander Jane Shepard is recruiting members to bring with her on a mission against the Collectors and the Reapers. Among the candidates is Dr. Harry Potter, the reclusive mad scientist who has been missing for twenty years. Who knows what he was doing during that time? Rated M to be sure.

Guilty pleasure at max.

 

Yeah, I just noticed sequel got published. It's still guilty pleasure at its finest. It doesn't have much conflict, but it's enjoyable to watch Harry wipe the floor with opposition. I am looking forward to interactions between Harry, EDI, Sheppard (I hope there will be romance later), and Mordin.
