Casino Royale comes out next week, with critical acclaim not seen since Goldeneye and very early in the series.

It's the 21st Bond movie, but it's been viewed as a kickstart to a better, grittier version of Bond movies to come.

Not seen the film yet, but I do have one comment on something else Bond related.

I read somewhere that some Black American Rap Artist is angling to become the first Black Bond.

IMO that should never happen. Not because Im racist or anything, but because Bond is white, he was in the books thus he should be in the films. As well as that, he is British, therefore an American actor would not be appropriate.

About James Bond films in general, they do need to move with the times, but they also need to be careful and not loose that essence that makes them James Bond films, and not just random spy flicks. The difference between the early bond films and the last couple is immence. The latest ones have been more modern yes, but they have lost the mysticism that was part of Bonds character.

It looks good, i will probably go and watch it in theaters. I never really liked Brosnan as James bond. I am still convinced that Sean connery was the best bond character.

I had reservations when i heard that he couldn't drive stick, but after i saw the acting ability. The teaser trailer talking about his job description with M. That's what sold me, That is Bond. I have a feeling it's going to be alot like Dr. No. no gadgets but a gun.

I'm also in agreeance against the African Amerian trying to be Bond. Bond is written as a white english spy. That's like casting Matt Damon, to pick an actor, to fill the shoes Will Smith on "Prince of Bel-air." While the example is extreme, you get my point.

I don't have a problem with Daniel Craig playing James Bond, but one thing that does bother me is Judie Dench is playing M. Casino Royale is supposed to be a prequel, but the M that Judie Dench plays was hired to be M after License to Kill. This isn't really a problem, but I still think if they're doing a prequel they should have a different M.

I take it to be that M, is M, just like Bond is Bond. You don't question it.

It's like The two dumbledores. They both had/have their way of acting with him. and the there isn't much to do about it.

I'm not upset that a certain person is playing a character. M is a position. They show this in the Bond movies when Pierce Brosnan tells Judie Dench that the previous M kept some alcoholic drink (I can't remember which) in the cabinets, but she says she prefers something else (Whiskey maybe? I can't remember this either).

Bond's just not Bond without all the kick ass gadgets, and I'd read they took out most of the toys =(

Ah well, the entire franchise is like this, they'll do movies with one Bond actor, until they get so outlandish with the gadgets and stunts, that they start over.

After all the last one had DNA swapped villians, and entire ice castle, and a satellite death beam, not to mention the invisible car.

Her predecessor preferred congac, Dench's M prefers Bourbon.

While I was upset that the original Q retired (and then promptly died in an accident), John Cleese has been a marvelous replacement, continuing with both the bumbling genius and the severe loathing of the man who so abuses his creations.

I really hope this one doesn't degenerate into a "My gadget can wtfpwn more than yours!" contest.

"Ah well, the entire franchise is like this, they'll do movies with one Bond actor, until they get so outlandish with the gadgets and stunts, that they start over."

I take issue with this mainly because it only really happend with Moore and Brosnan. Connery and Dalton however were excellent for the roles, but Connery quit because the role was too popular, and Dalton lost out due to licencing and copyright stuff. Brosnan for goldeneye was perfect but the last few he did ended up being gadgetwhorefests. Craig's portrayal is yet to be seen but from what we've heard about the film, it's back to basics, just like the books.

"After all the last one had DNA swapped villians, and entire ice castle, and a satellite death beam, not to mention the invisible car."

the ice castle isn't outlandish, there are hotels that operate like that. the satellite death beam reminded me too much of Goldeneye, and the invisible car isn't too far off. Now for the DNA swapped villians.. that was stupid. So was Halle berry.

This new movie will be great. Just starting out as a 00, Craig really gets a chance to develop the character, and play a slightly different Bond to the others. They tried to add depth to Bond with Timothy Dalton, but it didn't quite pan out, and Brosnan's films are just good action flicks, especially the Q Boat barrel roll in TWINE. Craig will play a darker, more human bond, and as such, I found this out last night, the music will have changed, and we won't have as much of the typical bond theme, which apparently signifies that when the music starts, he's not getting beaten. This Bond gets beaten up, and isn't instantly the best at anything. There is a scene where he takes his shirt off and examines his wounds.

This is the right direction for Bond at the moment.

Besides, why wouldn't they cash in on the world wide phenomenon that is Texas Hold 'em. It's one of the worlds most popular games, and gets loads of TV time, late night in the UK anyway.

Has anyone heard the theme tune? It's You Know My Name by Chris Cornell of Audioslave. I love it.

The new film looks pretty good. I personally like that they are taking away most of the gadgets, but I ma still unsure about this new actor that they hired. Personally I liked Brosnan, but well he got fired for being to old. I hated Dalton with a passion and always thought the Roger Moore went way overboard with his emotions. I mean he save the world like every week and yet continues to be shocked when it happens again. Connery was frankly, The Man. He had everything that reminds me of who James Bond was, and ever since him all the actors are simply trying to do it as good as him.

But the fact remain that Bond should not be a blond, and Nature will punish those responsible for this mistake.

A blond Bond, M continuity mistakes, no Q, and gadget whoring are just some of the reasons I won't be watching this one in the theatres. In my mind, Tommorrow Never Dies was the last true James Bond film.

And yes, Sean Connery is the epitome of James Bond. Moore was alright, the others were nothing but posers.

Actually the producers have said that this movie will have far less gadgets than the old ones.

I'm looking forward to a new, darker Bond - I've grown to hate the "My gadget can wtfpwn your gadget!" contests the series has grown into.
