    Bethesda had an amazing conference. If Fallout 4 turns out as good as it looks, it may be the first Bethesda game I play on third person.

    Anyway, I do see some definite improvements to Fallout 3/NV. But I still have misgivings over giving Fallout a Mass Effect-style character, as well as playing as a character from before the Great War. And I'm expecting some of the same problems Fallout 3 had with its story and setting to return.

    Love the scavenging and weapon/armor/settlement building/customization, but being forced to play as a 30-or-so married man/woman with a preset voice I can't change pisses me off. For how much Todd was talking about user choice and playstyle, that seems pretty damn restrictive.

    If you dont want the voice then turn it off? Problem solved. That's a stupid reason to get up in arms about. Did you expect them to have multiple voice actors to diminish quality and increase recording time? If you can't stand characters having voices you can't choose, then you mustn't be able to enjoy many games. How's your fiftieth replay of the Half-Life series going? ;)

    The game is still structured around a voiced protagonist, down to how dialogue is written, the amount of dialogue (invariably less, since voice actors are more expensive than just text) and how it's arranged, whether you hear the actual sound of their voice or not. Muting it doesn't really fix anything.

    Fallout is 'supposed' to be an open RPG. I'm 'supposed' to be whoever the hell I want, with whatever motivations and attitude I choose. Giving the protagonist a voice takes most of that away from my control. He doesn't feel how I feel, he feels however the writers want him to feel. Like I said in the everything else thread, I want to be whoever I want, not Happy!/Sarcastic!/Dickbag!Vaultdweller#4.

    I never really view characters as "myself," but yeah, having characters practically written for you before you even take over is a step backward.

    I can't seem to find a video showing this supposed settlement building/management. I would've watched a stream, but I was actually running a Fallout RPG with some friends at the time, lol. (EDIT: Never mind, found it.)

    At the very least maybe this game can provide a good base for another Obsidian Fallout game, God willing. Though, Chris Avellone did just leave Obsidian -- but on the other hand I think I heard he wanted to nuke the West Coast again, so maybe that's not strictly a bad thing.
