Imagine you had a chance to choose between your current life and a magical life in the Harry Potter world. What would you choose?

 

Depends. Would my family exist in this other world? Would I have another family instead? If the latter, would they have been my family since birth or would I have the memories of my current life and merely have been transported to this different one?

I'm all for the ability to do magic. It would be awesome and anyone who says otherwise is lying, but I don't want it enough to give up my life.

 

Why would you think that life in the Harry Potter world would be magical? Just because you'd have a life with magic doesn't make it automatically magical.

 

Didn't we do this thread somewhere a couple weeks ago? Or am I just going crazy? It was along the lines of "if you could choose any fantasy world to live in what world would it be and would you go knowing full well that you can't come back?"

In other words, of course not. If I got transported to HP world, I would just find something new to fantasize about. Also, there is no sci-fi there. That would kill me.

Hmm. If I was given the choice at this exact moment i'd probably say no.

 

Yes. Assuming that I'm magical and keep my memories, personality etc.

We've had a few of threads, but not too recently? Maybe this year though...

 

The novelty will wear off pretty soon. It seems like a good idea, but I am used to my life. Also being part of a world where everyone can do magic doesn't seem all that appealing.
On the other hand if I get the ability to do magic in this world, that might be something.

 

For those thinking about things in the Muggle world they'd miss, you could, as any decent level of wizard, which you'd probably have the discipline to become having traded your current life for the chance to do so, pretty easily infiltrate the Muggle world and obtain their books, technology, etc. No one says you would have to be as clueless about it as Mr. Weasley was.

Hell, you might even be able to visit the HP universe's version of your family, since the only real difference was supposed to be the existence of a secret wizarding world, not the nonexistence of this one.
