That's not as far from truth as you'd think.
In Lithuanian, the names literally translate into Russians and White-Russians and Russia and White-Russia.

Bela / белый - means white, too.

Although on Belarus' name, it comes from Kingdom of Rus, a source Russia partially shares, if I'm not mistaken.

Belarus kinda means the "White Rus".
